Lunchtime Election Grist with The Horsey

So today is the big day and there’s going to be some hard council spills with six election races inside the Mile Square.

Whispers are floating in from near and far, the big development sponsored mayor’s ticket not looking so hot now.

There are also three BoE seats up for election and an assortment of HudCo races not in doubt.

Little drama from the Stable but reports of strong, favorable voting signals out of the sixth ward, home of City Council President Jen Giattino and in the second ward, for Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher. Read More...

Horse Sense: The Mile Square Stakes – Hoboken Sovereignty & Ravi Bhalla Towers

With the collapse of the Reform Movement and the final turncoat appearance of Dawn Zimmer against the principles of transparency and Hoboken sovereignty risen, today’s council elections will have a major impact on the future of the Mile Square City.

The stakes are nothing short of generational.

As one voter recounted, former mayor Dawn Zimmer held to the principles built under the big tent of Reform, then backed out during the glare of a mayoral campaign for mayor to insert Ravi Bhalla in a cynical back-door maneuver. Now, they say, she returns to tell us how to vote with endorsements for big development backed special interests candidates as she has her home up for sale.  Excuse me? Read More...

Getting out the vote on Election Day can be challenging particularly with lousy weather so your vote is even more essential.  Remember, that if there is any issue at the polls, you can always vote provisionally!   You can help in many ways but the biggest one is VOTING 1C!  Remember, if you support me, don’t rely on other people to elect me – every vote is needed!  You can also hand out literature, carry signs, or wear a “VOTE 1C” t-shirt, pin or sticker as long as you are at least 100 feet away from the polling locations.  You can even still DONATE (I have plenty of bills to still pay…). It all helps!     Please stop by Choco Pain at Hudson Tea beginning at 7am where we will have our Election Day headquarters.  You can grab election gear, help with GOTV and even make phone calls during the day to remind supporters to make it to the polls before 8pm!  We can use your help even if you have a little time to spare or a lot!   And if you wear your “I Voted Sticker” you can get some 2nd Ward Election Day Discounts!  So Vote!       Wear your “I Voted Sticker, head to the 2nd Ward to celebrate voting, and get discounts at the restaurants where I had or are having events during my campaign:

  • Choco Pain at Hudson Tea where I have my Election Day HQ will be offering 20% on all drinks all day for people with an I Voted Sticker!

Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher states the case on her performance for re-election

    Official release:

Dear Friends and Neighbors,   This is it!  Polls open 24 hours from now!  Thank you for all of your support over these past two months!  But to make it all worth it, you now have to go out and vote!!!!!  I keep hearing “you’ve got this” but the only way I win is if you show up to vote.   Why is this such an important local election for Hoboken? Because the people you elect tomorrow will be making decisions on your behalf that will have a longstanding impact on our community and your quality of life.  One vote for Council, three for Board of Ed.   Most of us in Hoboken share common ground and purpose and I think on the few issues my opponent has spoken publicly on, we have more similarities than not – both of us want a public waterfront and can vote on Monarch, both think pedestrian safety is a critical issue, and both want to stop displacement of Hoboken residents.  But where I differ from my opponent and what I hope you consider as you VOTE TOMORROW is whether you want someone…

  • with a strong track record of delivering results for 2nd Ward residents on every important issue the city faces, or not.
