Tim Crowell: ‘No Special Interest for me but you in the 5th ward’

Friends and Neighbors,
Today is the big day— PLEASE BE SURE TO VOTE!
I am writing to encourage you and your friends and family to go out and perform your civic duty. This vote will have crucial and long-lasting impact on our city — especially, the 5thWard. Tomorrow I ask for your vote, to give me the amazing privilege to represent the citizens of the 5th Ward.

While I believe there are so many important points of distinction between myself and the other candidates, I believe there are two things that I think really differentiate myself from them.
1. Political Independence
My campaign has been funded by neighbors, a few friends, and my biggest donor, my parents. Thanks, Mom and Dad. I did not take money from a Super PAC, a Union, or any other interest group. I am truly an independent voice for Hoboken. This is important as I only answer to the people of the 5th ward. I have no political agenda, no alliances and no favors that I owe. I only answer to the true residents of our ward (well and my wife!). All too often politics is an insular group speaking to themselves, I am not a rubber stamp. I am an advocate for you.
2. Professional Experience Critical to the 5th Ward
I have said this in debates, on street corners, and on the stoops, “Development will shape the quality of life in Hoboken for the next 100 years.” It does not matter if we are talking about transportation, water main breaks, our schools, or parking. The development that happens in Hoboken will impact all these things and we only get on chance to get it right. There are so many development issues facing Hoboken right now; Northwest Corner in the 5th Ward, the Monarch, Union Dry Dock, the downtown hotel, and the Hudson Rail Yards Development. We need to take a hard look at what is being proposed and understand how it will impact the municipal resources in our town.
I am the only 5th ward candidate who has experience with these issues. I bring real estate experience from my professional career to the City of Hoboken. I have real-life practical experience to draw from when examining the developments happening in Hoboken. We should be looking for candidates for City Council that have experience that can be applied and used for the benefit of Hoboken.
Lastly, and importantly, I wish everyone running for office the best of luck. Anytime you put yourself and your family out there and raise your hand when inspired to serve your fellow citizens, it is hard work and very fulfilling work.
Oh, one last thing, if you or anyone you know needs help getting to and from the polls, we have a volunteer(s) ready to come and pick you up, bring you to the polling station and bring you back home. My Mom reminded me of a quote that I mentioned in the QLC debates, “I don’t want to live in the kind of world where we don’t look out for each other. Not just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand. I can’t change the way anybody else thinks, or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit.” – Charles de Lint. And that is really what I want to do. I want to do my part for Hoboken residents and the 5th Ward. We need a fair and balanced government that stands behind each and every resident in Hoboken. I am committed to being your voice on the Hoboken City Council.
