It’s Official: the Wiley Coyote, Eric Kurta is in for the 1st Ward City Council election!

Based on a Hudson Reporter story earlier today, reporter Ray Smith reveals ELEC documents showing long time good government activist Eric Kurta will be a candidate for the 1st ward City Council seat.

The seat currently held by Terry Castellano, cousin of former convicted felon and ex-mayor Anthony Russo means a key clash of Hoboken’s past and future will be contrasted in this May’s city wide council elections.

Eric Kurta is a long time advocate of good government policies currently serving on the Hoboken University Medical Center board where a successful bidder to buy the facility and relieve Hoboken taxpayers of a $52 million bond liability was just announced.  He’s also Vice President of People for Open Government.  His role was central in passing landmark pay to play legislation in Hoboken when he served as President in the legendary organization. Mayor to Council heads – Tell me what to do with the budget surplus

In a letter to the City Council heads, Mayor Zimmer requested Beth Mason and Mike Russo get back to her by the end of the month indicating what should be retained in the City’s budget surplus.  Noting it would be their decision as it’s determined by the City Council, she asked them to provide specific “input on the matter,” on how to handle the surplus so it could be taken into account in preparation of the new budget.

The letter also notes the $10 million cash was set aside for the 2010 budget a figure falling within the range recommended by financial experts and rating agencies. Read More...

Beth Mason turns her sights on Tom Greaney

=&0=& During the coronation of Beth Mason to Council President, one could easily believe it was all peaches and cream with her family stopping by to witness the event.  But politics in Hoboken is a rough and tumble atmosphere, and the Mile Square City is a valuable property, sitting atop many visions for further grandeur in the political stratosphere of the Soprano State. =&1=&

Beth Mason defends politrickin on the budget

BBC- BONUS BET COVERAGE!

Here’s a video clip of Beth Mason’s remarks on the temporary budget passed at the emergency meeting.  As many people know, it’s underfunded intentionally at 17.5%.  The Administration was using the state guidelines for temporary budgets of 26.25%.

What it means is an intentional unnecessary way for the Mason-Russo led City Council to grandstand on an issue where there is no gain, no benefit and no savings to the city.  They must love to hear themselves talk but that would be incorrect.  They in fact, love to hear themselves politrickin – such is their contempt for the public.

Listen to the reason Beth Mason attempts to make for passing their temporary underfunded budget.  She says it’s for oversight.  Since the temporary budget is merely a fractional application of the prior year, how in fact would you have any oversight over a historical budget?

How many themes can you identify in her prepared remarks now part of her campaign email?  Notice how she refers to the talking points of her minion as “the public?” It’s all staged just like her abusing the order of the public speaker’s list at the Monday emergency City Council meeting.

What’s so disturbing about Beth Mason is how intellectually dishonest she is about everything these days. That she actually did some good things years ago and was held in respect by many of us only makes it worse. Read More...

Beth Mason sounds the election guns, set sights on Tom Greaney… no Mayor Zimmer

the new Beth Mason logo – same mayoral themes sans reform.
Here’s the latest email from Beth Mason kicking off the unofficial start of her bid seeking re-election for the 2nd ward city council seat:
Dear Friend,

I hope this email finds you well.  As you maybe aware several weeks ago I announced my candidacy for re-election for 2nd Ward City Council and promised to re-launch my website after the holiday season.  Now that we have entered the New Year I ask that you please visit my new re-election website www.MasonCityCouncil.org.

Leading up to the May 10th election, I am looking forward to a spirited campaign where we discuss the issues that are important to us and our families.  We must continue to work together so we can continue to move the 2nd Ward in the right direction.  Together we must: Read More...

Room with a view: Anthony Romano and Ruben Ramos’ New Year Party

Here’s some photos from the Monday night New Year celebration tossed by Freeholder Anthony Romano and Assemblyman Ruben Ramos at 1 Republik Monday night. The emergency meeting at the City Council didn’t hurt the turnout at all. In fact, the place was pretty much filled to the gills unlike the sparse attendance at the City Council Chambers later.

Freeholder Anthony Romano was the gracious host for the event.
Big turnout, Matt Calicchio (l) takes a pic: no autographs kid.
Tim Occhipinti Campaign Manager Jamie Cryan was in attendance
Mike Novak and his elevated profile of late was also in the house
Michelle Russo spotted Da Horsey and laughed after an intimate embrace

Nine inches, no problem – Mayor thanks community and employees on snowstorm efforts

City of Hoboken announces:

MAYOR ZIMMER THANKS COMMUNITY AND EMPLOYEES FOR SNOW RESPONSE

“I want to thank residents for heeding the message to stay off of emergency snow routes. We were able to clear much of Washington Street and Willow Avenue without towing any cars, which kept our community safe through this storm and made the process of clearing snow much more efficient,” said Mayor Dawn Zimmer. “We did have to tow vehicles to clear other emergency routes in priority order until we literally ran out of space in the tow lot and our municipal garage. I’m glad that through various methods including a Reverse 911 call, a robocall to parking permit holders, the Nixle alert system, and on-street police officers using PA systems, the message got out to most residents. We will continue to use these and other tools in the future to alert the community.” Read More...

Beth Mason abuses public trust, Council Prez powers

Monday night at the emergency meeting, Councilwoman Beth Mason acting as the Hoboken City Council President demonstrated her idea of impartiality in the position abusing the public trust and the President’s powers by manipulating the short speakers list during the public portion so her ubermensch political operative, Lane Bajardi of Hoboken411 (or Mason411 as some now call it) could have the last word.

Using some secret Masonic code, (texting during the meeting is not readily possible with Beth Mason front and center) the plan was to bump up yours truly on the list. At the previous City Council meeting having signed up at the very end, it came as an odd surprise to hear one’s name called second. Read More...

90 Washington Street: Mind Control HQ

There’s a ton of material to review and present to the public from last night but with all the missteps of the Mason-Russo junta, it’s going to take a mucho effort to illustrate their reign of terror against the Hoboken people.

The obsession for anyone speaking their mind publicly by their little attack minion is disturbing but par for the course for the deranged and mentally disturbed who can convince themselves in an eyelash free speech means they have the right to say whatever invective they wish in City Council meetings (or on Hoboken411) and everyone else who dares to say otherwise is some sort of Oswald conspiracy participant.  Sadly, Councilman Nino Giacchi has now enlisted into the idea of mind-bending drugs traveling on the airwaves from City Hall to several websites and commenters.  (Da Horsey hopes he gets better, because he’s far better than that.)
