"The ground is rumbling," in Hoboken

This just in. Your anti-corruption trampling Horsey is hearing an earthquake has either begun or it’s a dress rehearsal for what must be coming.

Those who can confirm details are urged to do so via smartyjones@me.com. You may call/text in confidence to 917 907-4364. Ask for the Hoboken Horse of Their Apocalypse.

This is your Horsey Big Bang update. Had this been the actual Big Bang, you would have received instructions on what to do and which watering hole to report to for further information. For others, where to post bail. Read More...

Don’t Delea; it’s for the Glory!

Well it’s time again for Hoboken’s Party with Purpose 5K race.  This
year promises to raise more loot than ever.  So throw on your sneakers
and get in the race or just cheer the runners on like Scott Delea who
will be on a bullhorn yelling, “You’re all winners!”

Can you guess why?

It’s glory to Scott Delea and Party Pupie
with Purpose with the 5K run in Hoboken.  All the proceeds other than
monies Scott decides to hold without telling donors will benefit the
children of the community including
the Boys & Girls Club, uh the Hola School and its “select” group of students.

Talking Ed Note: There’s been
construction at the Boys & Girls Club and the building is
expanding!  But it’s not for the needy boys and girls in the community,
this is for the Hola School. Only.  Those underprivileged boys and girls
have been steadily bumped out to public facilities uptown since last
year. Read More...

A note about the Street Money Mason Store

The Street Money Mason Store is temporarily unavailable due to a required upgrade. MSV will be opening the revamped store in time before the Hoboken Big Bang Event comes.

Didn’t you get your notice on it?  What Mason411 didn’t tell you?  Nothing from editor Augie and company at the Jersey Journal?  They and other folks are too busy spinning in every which direction but the right one.  Did anyone even get an answer if Mason or Councilman Mike Russo had seen any of the very emails they had requested over two months in their co-sponsored witch-hunt of a resolution? Scott Delea’s campaign report is finally out, but it doesn’t add up.

Here’s some parts of Scott Delea’s campaign finance (NJ ELEC) report.  It’s written out in hand and seems to have been done intentionally sloppy to make it unclear.  Of the major candidates, Scott came in last, not only in the vote tally but in meeting the deadline for filing the 20 day post election report.  It was due May 31 and Scott even came in more late than Beth Mason.

The only expenditure that fits for his 5th ward mailer is a curious claim: “online marketing” for $3400 “mailers.”  How do you do mailers in “online marketing” for $3,400?  Well good luck trying to get a straight answer from Scott Delea. Read More...

Hoboken Revolt: Save the Hospital AND Protect the Taxpayer!

From Hoboken Revolt:

Hoboken Revolt fully supports the sale of Hoboken University Medical Center. You can find more detailed information on our site hobokenrevolt.com but here are the facts you need to know:

1. The hospital was in danger of closing in 2006/2007 so the city stepped in setting up the ONLY municipal hospital in the state of NJ. The City and therefore the taxpayers are backing the 52M bond.

2. The hospital has NOT been profitable losing 21.7M in 2008 and 16.3M in 2009. The only reason the hospital has remained open to date is due to state and federal subsidies. We already know 11M in federal funds will not return in 2011.

3. Due to lack of profitability, the hospital WILL close placing the responsibility of the 52M bond on the taxpayers of Hoboken IF IT IS NOT SOLD

4. Selling the hospital to HUMC Holdco will guarantee Hoboken a hospital for the next seven years AND will take away the burden of the bond for the taxpayers. The City of Hoboken needs a hospital but it should not be funded by the taxpayers. Everyone must work together to avoid hospital closure, maintain over 1100 jobs and remove the City of Hoboken from the guarantee of the bonds. Read More...

(Beyond) Time to Lawyer Up!

Our colleague Grafix Avenger who was kind enough to extend licensing fees for our Street Money Mason store, received a delivery via Fedex earlier today.  This Fedex is similar in aspects to our source(s) and MSV can confirm the sources are not one and the same.

The similarities surrounding criminal defense attorneys coincides with information that’s recently reached Da Horsey.  MSV had been tracking a rumor on one council member a month back along these lines – before the FBI had publicly surfaced in town. Read More...

Horse Sense: Before the Feds move in, put teeth into local ethics laws

Tick tock, tick tock everyone is watching the month of July calendar clock. As we do, it’s best to use time wisely. The City Council is moving on a number of fronts in short order causing a deep burn within the Old Guard with a move to see municipal elections similar to most in the state take place in November.

As that’s a direct reminder to them of the mayor’s election back in 2009, it’s sure to give them one long burn. But why stop there? The City Council right now needs to turn its attention to elected officials and its own institution and put some teeth into standards of behavior and accountability in Hoboken.

While the Administration marshaled efforts with numerous improvements in ethics reform, nothing speaks to the full public interest in mandated expectations of the council members and elected officials as a whole. For example, if a City Council member is picked up for a Federal crime, what can the public expect in terms of limiting their impact on policy going forward? Read More...

Sign of the Times: Brother can you spare $100,000?

Ex-mayor and felon Anthony Russo hits up a reporter at the council ceremony.

When a 2010 city audit revealed several unqualified people receiving city paid health benefits, the one making the news was Anthony Russo.

The estimated cost to the city and the taxpayers for this largesse was $80,000 – 100,000.  The city made a comment an effort would be made to recover the funds.  It’s unclear how they will do so with the former mayor still owing an outstanding obligation well over $300,000.  It’s a sum he claims he’s unable to pay due to gambling away the hundreds of thousands he extorted from one city vendor alone. Did Rami Pinchevsky beat Tim Occhipinti in the 4th ward election?

Examining Tim Occhipinti’s election campaign report doesn’t only show questionable movements of money from his benefactor Beth Mason, much of that is  demonstrated in both the admitted wheeling and questionable money activities.  From a pure voter examination standpoint however, did Rami Pinchevsky in fact beat Tim Occhipinti in the May election?

Last fall’s 4th ward special election extended to Hoboken some eye-opening voter trends.  In a race where less than a thousand votes historically determines the winner in the ward, the Tim Occhipinti campaign cranked out 500 paper vote-by-mail ballots alone. Read More...
