Adams family values?

Put this one in the cockadoodle doo category.

Last night featured some serious City Council business and a number of public speakers but one late to the game started by complaining about the Vape Van incident and then went on with a six minute prepared rant against the First Amendment and slandered who knows how many people including this editor demanding they be sanctioned and censored!

Hello Hoboken election season.

The Vape Van was declared “hateful hate speech” and it went downhill from there. Subsidiary complaints with heaping helpings of slander for six minutes ranting against MSV, Grafix Avenger, BoE trustee Irene Sobolov, Council members Dave Mello and Ravi Bhalla among unknown others. Read More...

Volunteer Request for Fox Hill Community Garden Build Out

From the desk of Councilman Peter Cunningham:

Dear Friends, Family and Neighbors,

First, many thanks to all of you that voted in support of our candidates in Column E in record numbers today.  We were successful in winning 64 of the 67 of the Democratic Committee Districts City wide. On this Saturday, from 9:30 to 4pm, I will be hosting along with Hoboken Housing Authority Executive Director Marc Recko an event to build a community garden on the grounds at Fox Hill Gardens at 311 13th Street.  Fox Hill is a mostly senior building within Hoboken’s Housing Authority in northwest Hoboken (13th and Willow). The Authority has agreed to provide “experienced” support for all levels that would like to partake in this event.  We envision two shifts, one in the AM and one in the PM.  The proposed project is to stall a raised garden making it accessible to all individuals – including those confined to a wheel chair.  All materials will be provided to build the bed along with soil and plants! I have been working towards making this a reality for the residents of Fox Hills for many years, and we now have an Executive with hands on experience with community gardens and other Housing Authorities.  He has the professional staff to support the initiative, which will no doubt bring our community closer together.  I am hoping that you can join in the fun and support the benefits a community garden can bring to this important neighborhood. Coffee and donuts will be served in the morning followed by a lunch time cook out.   Please let me know if you can take the time to join us on Saturday and RSVP by end of day Thursday for planning purposes.  Thanks and let me know if you have any questions. Reform flex leaves Old Guard dusted in Democratic Committee landslide

In a low voter turnout election in Hudson County and much of New Jersey, the only drama locally was the rather insider battle over the Hoboken Democratic Committee.

Coming off the monster sweep of the Hoboken Board of Education last fall, the Reform flex was so powerful it’s Column E effort smothered and crushed the Russo Clan’s Line F.

Councilman Mike DeFusco awoke to the news of a Mayor Zimmer landslide in the local Democratic Committee.
DeFusco made an effort to build a committee under his name but retreated after the efforts couldn’t get airborne.
Yesterday, Column F led by the Russo Clan saw its once formidable machine laid waste.

The massive victory spells doom this November and must be leaving mayoral candidate Mike DeFusco feeling a bit queasy this morning to say nothing of his backers. Read More...

The Hoboken Democratic Committee is an early prognosticator of campaign strength leading to this fall’s November election.

Second Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher led efforts to rekindle a strong Hoboken Democratic Committee and the results appear to be looming large for the Column E candidates. Read More...

Grist for the Mill: Freeholder resistance in Hoboken?

The primaries are underway and Horsey received the first call at dawn when a voter recounted the uptown firehouse had a machine down forcing “emergency” ballot voting and much confusion.

As the phone rang just about 7:00 am, the first thought was “terrorist attack” or a local death of someone significant in the community. It turned out to be a far better outcome with county officials working to get the voting machine back in operation.

There won’t be much drama today in Hoboken with much of the ballot unopposed in the Democratic primary. Most of the interest will lie atop and at the bottom of the ticket for governor and Democratic Committee. Read More...

Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher: Vote for your neighbor tomorrow June 6th

From the desk of Second Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher:

Dear Hoboken friends –
For the past several weeks I have
had the honor of working with an amazing group of people who have decided to
get off the sidelines and put their hand up to get more involved in our
community.  All 68 people have their own reasons for wanting to do
this, ranging from events at the national level to events at our local level.  The
most positive thing to come out of the most recent presidential election is
that so many people are now more interested in participating in the discussion
in any way they can which helps all of us.

On June 6th, which is the
NJ Pri
mary Election, you have an opportunity to help YOUR NEIGHBORS in YOUR
DISTRICT, HELP YOU.  And all you have to do is vote for them to be
your representative on the Hudson County Democratic Committee

Who can vote for them?  Any
registered Democrat or anyone who is considered independent / unaffiliated.  For
those who are Republican or Republican leaning, the Republican Committee
election with be next year (they alternate years).

How can you vote for them? For 65
of the 68 it is quite simple – in the voting booth, find Column E (which will
be the one with the most candidates right in the middle), and in the last two
rows – 15E and 16E – you will see two names – these are your neighbors who want
to represent and work for you.  Just select them and cast your vote.  For
the remaining 3, Sheillah Dallara and Aaron Dallara in Ward 2, District 1 and
Chetali Khanna, Ward 4 and District 7, you need to write their name in the
Personal Choice column (the furthest to the right), rows 15 and 16.   Still
really easy – just an extra three steps – click on the space in row 15, use the
keyboard to type their name, and hit the green “enter” button on the
keyboard.  Just write their names down and take them with you and ask the
poll workers for help if you need it.

What is the Democratic Committee and
why is it so important?
Locally, it can and should be
the most micro form of government.  These are your eyes and ears in
your neighborhood who will identify issues and advocate for the interests of
you and your neighbors.  Additionally, the Democratic Committee
focuses on ensuring honest and transparent elections which is one the most
important issues to me, and why I am involved helping to manage this team.   And
beyond locally, the Democratic Committee helps support other Democratic
candidates in their elections.  One area a number of people in this
group are targeting is the 2018 midterm elections and doing what we can to help
Democrats take back some of the currently held Republican congressional seats.  So
not a well known elected role, but one that is really quite important.

Personally, I have been incredibly
inspired by all of the energy that this group of 68 have put into this election.  Whether
they are running against another neighbor or unopposed.  They are all
working to make a difference.  So thank you in advance for
support for their efforts and for VOTING FOR YOUR NEIGHBOR on JUNE 6th

Hoboken Democratic Committee on Line E

The progress in Hoboken since 2009 is no accident. The fight for good governance and 21st century standards has come at great cost and sacrifice and for some in Hoboken, over decades.

Setting expectations in the face of an opposition willing to deploy legal and illegal means for profit and power begins at the local committee level. This is a mandatory ingredient, electing people who will ensure honest elections.

Honest elections are a fundamental part of our constitutional rights, essential to any democratic form of government. Hoboken must have a base of like-minded representatives who demonstrate integrity and uphold free and fair elections and the Constitution. While all elected officials must be held to account at all times, some of the opposition are SHOWN to demonstrate the exact opposite. Read More...

Councilman Peter Cunningham on the Tuesday Primary Election

From the desk of Fifth Ward Councilman Peter Cunningham:

Dear Registered Democratic Voter of the 5th Ward (mostly),  This Tuesday, June 6th is Primary Day.  Most don’t pay too much attention to what happens in the primary elections unless there’s something big on the ballot like presidential, senatorial or gubernatorial election.   This year we have a gubernatorial election and I’ll be supporting Phil Murphy.  Just as important, we have Democratic Committee.(DC) elections that run every two years on the ballot this year. These seats are very important as they are intended to be the “eyes and ears” within the District on matters that are important to you.  I have always worked with our DC people on parking, traffic, transportation and development  related matters to name a few.  And over the last couple of weeks, I am sure you have met many of them on the doors also expressing what they have done (and will do) to represent you interest working with me, and promoting a democratic platform.   The 5th Ward is divided into 7 Legislative Districts.  I have worked hard to select candidates that I feel best represents the current and growing needs of our community.  Some of them are already very involved, while others stand to make a positive impact in our neighborhoods going forward.   I am asking for your support for these outstanding individuals (woman and man) in each of the following districts.   District 1 – =&0=&=&1=& District 2 – =&2=& (your councilman) District 3 – =&3=&=&1=& District 4 – =&5=&=&1=& District 5 – =&7=&=&1=& District 6 – =&9=&=&1=& District 7 – =&11=& On your sample ballot, we are all at the bottom of column E on line 15E and 16E. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions.  And if you are not in the 5th Ward, I would be happy to assist you on who I would be supporting in your District!  Thanks again.
