4th ward resident Jake Stuiver rebuts Tim Occhipinti: ‘Explain your betrayal and abuse of public trust for developers’

The following is a letter by Hoboken activist and 4th ward resident Jake Stuiver and appeared in the weekend paper. Dear Horsey: It is unfortunate that Fourth Ward Councilman Timothy Occhipinti took the time to launch a 503-word tirade against me without allotting even one sentence to address the very serious misconduct I exposed in my April 8 letter.  My previous letter concerned Mr. Occhipinti’s highly unorthodox and improper behavior on behalf of a campaign contributor at the March 20 Zoning Board meeting. Instead of splitting hairs over whether the campaign contributor, Danny Tattoli, is a developer or a “businessman” and whether Mr. Tattoli donated the additional $2,000 he reported in his disclosure statement or just the $1,500 reported on Tim’s ELEC, Tim should have addressed the real issue, which is what business he had, as a City Councilman, attempting to testify at a Zoning Board hearing at all. The City Council is the appeals authority for Zoning Board decisions, and any council member taking a public position on any such pending matter compromises the integrity of the process and potentially exposes the city to litigation. We all know how Tim feels, or is told to feel, about lawyer’s fees, so even he can agree that would not be good. Mr. Tattoli had illegally constructed a restaurant facility right in the vicinity of a planned Fourth Ward park, and Tim attempted to meddle in the hearing on whether to retroactively grant the necessary approvals. When the Zoning Board attorney advised Tim that council members may not testify at such hearings, he wasted several minutes of the board’s time protesting in a “sidebar.” Tim pays lip service to fighting for parks when it suits him politically, and never misses an opportunity to claim credit for accomplishments to which he cannot demonstrate the slightest contribution, but when it counts, Tim is not fighting for his ward but rather selling it out to the highest bidder. Mr. Tattoli broke the rules, and Mr. Occhipinti broke more rules to help his sponsor get away with breaking the rules. I stand by what I said, and Mr. Occhipinti, in declining to contest it in any serious manner, seems to tacitly agree – Tim is a developer shill and corruption apologist who champions not his ward and its residents, but rather the campaign-finance legal loopholes that defined his arrival on the council and continue to define his service on it. =&0=&

Hoboken411 taking his hatred for mayor with him to Vermont

Hoboken411 may be on the way out of Hoboken but letting go of Hoboken doesn’t mean Hoboken411 has to let go of his hatred.  Nothing gets the ubermensch Mason payola loving smear merchant more angry than Mayor Zimmer and the success of her mayoralty.

So while he’s going to be gone with a successful Mayor remaining in the seat at City Hall, he’s not exiting without revealing more of his irrational hatred.  The mayor has proven him wrong over and over and over again, so Perry Klaussen is going to get in as many lies in as he can, as often as possible before he goes kaput. Judge: “Arrest Hoboken411”

=&0=&     March 6th, 2012   At the Central Judicial Processing (CJP) in Jersey City today, Judge Richard Nieto issued a warrant for Hoboken411’s Perry Klaussen who failed to show up in court.  The alleged criminal coercion complaint against the Hoboken411 editor is being sent to the Prosecutor’s Office and will be reviewed for presentation to a grand jury. Attorney Sheryl Goski who is representing Hoboken local businessman Rory Chadwick said the judge will move the case to the prosecutor, who will now oversee the next steps in the criminal matter. The hearing scheduled for 1:00 gave ample time for Perry Klaussen to attend after he was issued the criminal complaint back on February 21st.  The judge then issued the warrant for   Klaussen about 40 minutes later. =&5=&

How much is it worth to take over Hoboken411?

Hoboken411’s Perry Klaussen
heading into court last week.

With Perry Klaussen, Hoboken’s notorious smear merchant headed to greener pastures of Vermont and presumably low carb maple syrup, the website Hoboken411 will likely be available in a fire sale.

Declining readership and ad revenue means a bargain basement price will be in the offing, after all you there’s nothing authentically local about Hoboken from a remote location in New England.

If he hasn’t already tried to find someone to buy the website or just the url, it won’t be long now. Read More...

No Tim Tebow in Hoboken?

There’s been so much media hype that New York Jets Quarterback Tim Tebow lives in Hoboken it’s almost a certainty.  Well not quite based on some sources who say the man who tebows is not in Hoboken’s city limits and has not been a resident.

(Cry.) Horsey is an honorary Gator and we just heard the sad revelation after thinking Tebow was our neighbor. Hey, not for nothing we love Eli Manning and wish him and his family the best. He’s been awesome and we bow down to a QB with two Super Bowl rings but… Damn we love Tebow, he’s a great guy who loves people and lives the faith. Nothing anyone will say or can do will ever change that. According to a Newsday story, the Jets Quarterback says he’s never been to Hoboken. Chalk it up as one of the final lies from Hoboken411.
Resident or not, Tim Tebow is a New York Jet Quarterback.  Da Horsey loves Tebow.
If Tim Tebow did tebow in Hoboken, we think he’d tebow against corruption.  Rock on Tim!

Tebow has a foundation for impoverished children:

Sign of the Times – Mayoral wildcard?

Pictured for your approval, one Freeholder Anthony Stick Romano with Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno last July at the council swearing-in ceremony.  Is he the swing vote to determine a candidate to run against Mayor Dawn Zimmer or is he a potential candidate too?

MSV hasn’t completed it’s Part II for mayoral candidates although Freeholder Romano is not off the list.  He has advantages others don’t, namely no big whooping negatives.  On the downside, he also lacks name recognition, so no big positives. Read More...

The demise of censorship: Hoboken411 heading to New England, officially ends the dream of a Beth Mason led Hoboken empire

=&0=& =&1=&

After months of a rumored tailspin with revenue tanking and interest waning in his flagging website, Hoboken411 editor Perry Klaussen is surrendering to the inevitable and leaving Hoboken for the Ben & Jerry’s world of Vermont according to sources just revealed to MSV.

Sources on the street say it’s true, the six year run is all but over and while it’s unclear if Klaussen will attempt to simulate Hoboken411 as “authentically local” from New England, he’s reclusive from almost all Hoboken events of importance anyway and had turned to cajoling people who have stopped contributing content.  (A recent Hoboken411 tweet claimed to be at the City Council meeting but MSV was present and he was nowhere to be seen; just another example of the steady stream of lies pumped out regularly there.) Hoboken Parking Meters – coming soon to a neighborhood near you?

The new Hoboken parking meters are a great success.  More cars are able to park on our major thoroughfare of Washington Street and people have a variety of options to pay with more coming.  In addition, the corruption looting more than four million quarters is removed and revenues are predicted to increase by seven figures.

So it’s a win win right?  Well not exactly.  A pilot program is being contemplated for testing with the intent of expanding the headless horse all around town – meaning every corner of Hoboken. Originally broached as a means to move away from the four hour signs where confusion has led to much bad will, the answer to that question does not lie anytime soon with these parking meters being installed wall to wall across the City. MSV has proposed a minor change to the current signage to minimize confusion on the four hour parking limit.  A sticker could be made and adhered to all the existing signs saying “4 hour rule applies Citywide.”  That would end the nuisance of low brow media being brought in to do staged runs in and out of town to show their victimization and remove the confusion.
Are these headless horse meters plotting to take over the whole City?  Based on a pilot program expanding its use, that appears to be the intent.  It’s not the best idea for Hoboken and will destroy the character of neighborhoods.
The problem with the four hour sign isn’t so much the sign but that an old policy was not being enforced and people were taking advantage of that knowledge to move a vehicle around the corner to escape the boot.  But how does a pilot program putting parking meters on every block in the City help? It doesn’t. Putting the new parking meters on every block of the City will harm the character of Hoboken and lessen the sense of community and neighborhood.  Hoboken will be an extended parking lot of parking meters and while it could put an end to the hated four hour parking limit for visitors, it’s nowhere near doing so anytime soon and removes character from this town in ways which can never be recovered. Some additional thought should be given to dealing with the four hour signage and the pilot on the parking meters should be weighed against broader polling methods from the community.  MSV’s inexpensive solution should be given consideration as well. There’s a lot more at stake than the four hour sign.  Hoboken’s neighborhoods don’t deserve to see these headless horses stamped all over the blocks of their homes.  That doesn’t even begin to address how simple increases can be imposed, a temptation too easy to entertain.
