Republicans of Hoboken Sweep Local Committee Elections

From the desk of Scott Siegel, Republicans of Hoboken: On Monday night the Republicans of Hoboken (ROH) led by Diana Davis easily defeated The “Unbossed” slate led by former Mayoral candidate Nathan Brinkman. The ROH increased their previous total of 33 candidates to 51, while the Unbossed slid from 11 to 8. The ROH won all but one head to head matchup, with Nathan (Ward 4, District 1) being the sole exception.
Incumbent former BOE hopefuls Perry Lin, and Liz Markevitch (Unbossed) failed to earn a new term. Former BOE candidate John Forsman was defeated once again. BOE member Maureen Sullivan was successful.

For the ROH in addition to Diana, former City Council candidate Chris Carbine and incumbent Vice Presidents Dolores England and Scott Siegel maintained their seats. Anne Sauer was named secretary and Adam Condo treasurer. Former 4th Ward candidate James Sanford was also successful.

The 5th and 6th Wards were particularly successful for ROH. In the 5th 11 out of 14 seats were filled, while in the 6, 13 0f 14 were filled.

Earlier boasting by Brink man’s side proved to be unfounded as the final results showed. They fielded 18 candidates with considerable help from Democrat Frank “Pupie” Raia.

There were several “mistakes” made by the Hoboken City clerk’s office. Former NJ judge Al Siss was placed in 2-2, despite the fact that he is registered in 2-3. Both the Hoboken and the Hudson County Clerk’s office signed off on his win. Similarly Ward 2, District 5 candidate Brian Buzzelli was left off the ballot despite submitting a valid petition. Even more disturbing is the fact he requested a VBM (never submitted) so he and another similar Republican submitted provisional ballots that somehow never made it to City Hall. That’s Hudson County for you!

This is the most seats filled by local Republicans in many years, showing that the party is slowly gaining traction.

More IRS problems uncovered with Beth Mason's "Civic" League

Mason Civic League problems extend beyond political entanglements with no IRS annual filings in almost two years

The Mason Civic League, Inc., the shadowy non-profit where political operatives profit every which way isn’t only playing fast and loose with its tax exempt status, it also is playing fast and loose fulfilling annual filing requirements.

According to IRS rules, 501(c)(3) organizations are required to file every year in most instances.  In almost two years, the Mason Civic League, Inc. has filed nothing! Read More...

Tax exempt Beth and Ricky Mason “Civic” League filled to the gills with paid political operatives performing verified political operations

The Mason Civic League’s Gallery 1200 on twelfth and Washington St. is a designated non-profit with a mission statement claiming it performs educational, art and civic support to Hoboken and beyond.

The truth may be far different and flat out illegal based on IRS rules on organizations claiming non-profit status.  The IRS clearly states such groups can not participate in political campaigns/activities.  Such paid work can not be done on behalf of any political campaign or person. Read More...

The Hudson Reporter – judge and prosecutor agree: Beth Mason employees Matt Calicchio and Tania Garcia are liars!

=&0=&

The Hudson Reporter released its weekend edition confirming the stories reported on both Grafix Avenger and MSV, Matt Calicchio and Tania Garcia – both admitted employees of Councilwoman Beth Mason’s “Civic” League – lied on the stand and perjured themselves in a Union City courtroom last week.

Beth Mason: I have two employees on my payroll who will perjure themselves in court for me and my “dirty” politics.
Is that transparent enough for you?

The Hudson Reporter did get the real story but left out perhaps the more colorful quotes from the judge.  Among the additional facts/quotes in the story:

  • Judge Sixto Macias believed the complainant BoE trustee Theresa Minutillo
  • Prosecutor James Covielo, “There are people who took the stand and lied.”
  • Both the judge and prosecutor declare Mason employees Matt Calicchio and Tania Garcia lied
  • Prosecutor Coviello: “This is dirty Hudson County politics” (Thank you Beth!)
  • Judge Macias: “People openly lied (here) which is worse than a harassment charge.
  • Mason attorney DiNardo claimed to have issued a subpoena to Grafix Avenger
  • Judge to Minutillo: (Unfortunately) you’re a public figure.
  • Even as both the prosecutor and judge view Calicchio and Garcia as clearly lying on the witness stand, the State will not pursue perjury charges against them.

The more colorful quotes of the judge don’t appear in the Hudson Reporter but at least the basics are there.  Sadly, they don’t mention a key aspect and the word “bullying” isn’t mentioned anywhere. Read More...

Dear Mr. Calicchio,
I am very disappointed. I thought you could be a better minion than that idiot Lane, who got me into all that trouble with the FBI and then ratted me out. All he ever wanted was a PIO job anyway. That stupid jerkoff and his easel. I thought you were much, much better. Maybe not too smart, ok, fine, and I didn’t think it was possible to look any goofier in a suit than clown-shoes Lane, but you actually managed to pull it off. But this latest stunt was unacceptable, and all you’ve done by harassing that woman is get me into the soup again and more trouble with the authorities. I can’t have this. Do you understand? Do you know who I am? I’m COUNTE$$, dammit! I want RESPECT! I want to be MAYOR!!! And I want to be the SYMPATHETIC FIGURE amid all these horrible people trying to… gah… do right by Hoboken! I AM THE GABBY GIFFORDS OF HOBOKEN, DO YOU UNDERSTAND??? Every time that drasted Dawn Zimmer lowers taxes, or saves the hospital, or advances a park plan, it feels just like getting shot in the face!

So, in short, you’re fired, fatass.

Beth Mason employee Matt Calicchio avoids harassment conviction as judge tears into his “bullying” and “garbage” testimony

=&0=&

Based on a bombshell story on Grafix Avenger, the conclusion to a harassment case against Beth Mason’s paid political operative avoided conviction but resulted in a number of embarrassing revelations pointing to the employer who spent significant monies for numerous people in an attempt to bury the case.

Theresa Minutillo, the BoE trustee who filed the harassment charges last fall lacked the evidence for a prosecutor to obtain a conviction against Beth Mason’s admitted employee Matt Calicchio but based on an eyewitness who observed the proceedings, the judge slammed both Matt Calicchio and another Mason employee Tania Garcia who was claimed as a witness by both sides and is a direct relation to BoE trustee Carmelo Garcia. Tim Occhipinti unplugged: “NO” on Southwest Park

Here’s the unedited, complete remarks of Tim Occhipinti who occupies the fourth ward seat commenting on the ordinance before the City Council last night for a Southwest Park giving the City powers of eminent domain in additional negotiations with the owner of Block 12.

Does it sound to you like he’s speaking from the public’s side of the mic?  His prepared remarks attacking the mayor for her not delivering on a six acre park over “five years” is remarkable.  One obvious reason being that Mayor Zimmer has held the office for under three years. Read More...
