Political operatives litter streets with midnight flyer attacking Grafix Avenger

Proving that political season is in full swing in Hoboken, an attack on one parent with a daughter in the school district is the target of a political operative midnight flier attack.  Once again, it’s a SLAPP against a certain Hoboken mom with a daughter in the district in earshot of an upcoming BoE election

Of course the mom under attack is Grafix Avenger.

The flier demands the Kids First slate denounce their graphic designer.  There’s just one problem,
Grafix Avenger is not their graphic designer. Read More...

Kids First comes out swinging “Proud of the progress”

Kids First Announces:

Dear Friends,
Election Day is November 6 — only a few weeks away. The race for the Board of Education is going to be close and every single vote counts!
Voters face a simple choice between Kids First, with a proven record of educational and financial reform, and our opponents, who will take the district back in time to its pre-reform state.
It’s vitally important that reform-minded voters not only vote for Board of Education, but help get out the vote.
You can help in lots of different ways: donate to the campaign, register to vote, “like” us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, put a campaign sign in your window, canvass with a candidate, hold a candidate “Meet and Greet,” and tell your friends why it’s important to vote Kids First.
But most important is helping us inform voters on election day itself. We’ve had great success in the past with volunteers on election day and we must repeat that success this year. Please consider volunteering an hour or two to help keep the reform majority this November 6. Simply reply to this email to let us know that you want to help continue the progress.
Donate: We are a grassroots campaign and every donation — no matter the size — does make a difference. You can donate online via Facebook or at this web page. (To donate by check, simply reply to this email to let us know. We’ll provide the details.)
Register to Vote: And don’t forget to update your voter registration if you have recently changed your address. The deadline is only one week away: October 16.
Register to Vote By Mail: If you can’t vote in person on November 6, you can apply to vote by mail. To receive your ballot by mail, your application must be received by the County Clerk seven (7) days prior to the election. A voter may also apply in person to the County Clerk until 3:00 p.m. the day before the election.
“Like” Us on Facebook: Visit the Kids First Facebook page to read about the candidates, our platform, and campaign updates. And share the Kids First page with your friends.
Follow Us on Twitter: Follow us for campaign updates.
Campaign Signs: Put campaign signs in your windows to show your support. Reply to this email and tell us how many you need. We deliver!
Canvass with a Candidate: Ruthy, Jean Marie and Tom would welcome your company and moral support when they’re out talking to prospective voters. Or take them on a 30-minute door-to-door around your neighborhood and introduce them to your neighbors. To accompany a candidate and meet Hoboken’s voters, just reply to this email.
Hold a Meet and Greet: Introduce the Kids First candidates to your friends and neighbors. Hold an event at your home or in a building common area. It can be big or small, during the day or in the evening. Just reply to this email and let us know what works best for you.
Be a Polling Station Challenger: On election day we need people to ensure polling stations follow proper procedures. Reply to this email to let us know you want to be a challenger.
Get Out the Vote on Election Day: This is the most important thing you can do! We need to make sure voters don’t forget to vote for Kids First on election day. Just one or two hours of your time on election day will make all the difference in this election. Reply to this email to let us know you can help.
Finally, PLEASE forward this email to your friends and neighbors. Spread the word about Kids First!

Ravi Bhalla slams disrespect shown to new councilman

=&0=&

After it became clear the three members of MORTe present would make a circus of every vote by Councilman Jim Doyle at last week’s council meeting, some choice comments were offered by Councilman Ravi Bhalla regarding their actions turning every vote into a circus.

In this short video clip, three members of the Old Guard council present; Michael Russo, Terry Castellano and Tim Occhipinti make objections to Councilman Jim Doyle’s vote as they would insist on doing each and every vote throughout the evening.  Stating an objection once for the record apparently wasn’t sufficient. Mason on the outs with Bob Menendez, Old Guard as more litigation looms

November elections are now around the corner, a new flavor for the BoE in town but it’s just one of the delectable treats being tossed on the barbie in this latest plate of gristy chewables.

First, Councilwoman Beth Mason who was AWOL at the last City Council meeting for litigious purposes has been given the heave ho by Senator Menendez. The former and some say still influential boss of Hudson County was not pleased about her backing Bill Pascrell over his pick Steve Rothman for Congress.  Mason had been known to flower Menendez with her primary asset via the checkbook but the Senator has accumulated a vast war chest in his re-election campaign to the US Senate.

Word on the street is Sen. Menendez no likey Beth Mason and he doesn’t need her check.

Tim Occhipinti also made rounds on behalf of Pascrell but that’s not news as where Mason’s money points, Timmy follows.  Mason however, did not attend high profile Menendez events in recent months, so count this as another long time investment gone sour. Read More...

SLAPP suit takes turn with political operative type harassment phone calls

Late Friday Hoboken residents were returning from work and beginning plans for the weekend but one or more political operatives had other ideas.  On who’s behalf they were working, they didn’t say but they would make clear their single-minded purpose.

MSV received a series of phones call from someone identifying themselves as a Verizon News TV reporter.  The calls all came from a 201 number and the caller was asked to try again on a better connection which he said he would do in a few minutes. Read More...

Where in the world is Beth Mason as Hoboken awaits yet another lawsuit?

With confirmation Beth Mason did not leave the country for some Tuscan Italian wine festival earlier this week, only avoiding her responsibility in attending the Wednesday night council meeting; Hoboken should expect =&0=&

The repeated utterances from Councilman Michael Russo about going to court was not mere grandstanding as he was joined by his cousin Terry Castellano and Tim Occhipinti from the beginning in complaining about the council appointment throughout the evening.

We’re not sure about Waldo, but the earlier theory Beth Mason was in Italy as her excuse for not attending
the City Council meeting was proven false when a reliable eyewitness saw her in Hoboken Wednesday afternoon.

The latest political angling is part of a rumored Old Guard legal attempt to wrest control of the council from a popular mayor who is moving Hoboken forward even without a required sixth vote blocking bonded capital improvements.

(You don’t see any new HOP buses on the roads for Hoboken seniors do you?  Thank Terry Castellano when you get a chance.) Read More...

Grist for the Mill: Old Guard council taking City to court?

=&0=&  A completely untested, unconfirmed rumor says the legal threat by Councilman Michael Russo in City Council last night with some legal beagle maneuvering by the Old Guard to halt the appointment of Councilman Jim Doyle could very well be in the works. Word’s escaped and on the street this legal strategy was concocted in advance with =&1=& with a =&2=& in the hopes to distort the real intent: create a 4-4 deadlock on the City Council for months until a special election is ordered by Hudson County court. The chances of such a legal deployment winning are slim. As part of this strategy, a different approach had to be made from the 2009 attempt to stop a council appointment when Dawn Zimmer became mayor and vacated the fourth ward seat.  At that time Councilwoman Beth Mason abstained so there would not be a 4-4 tie in the hopes the mayor would then not cast a deciding vote.  The mayor voted and decided the matter anyway. This time Beth Mason was designated as the person to be out of the council chambers to revisit the strategy from a different legal angle.  The hope is that a judge would provide the Old Guard some out in this hail mary throw that would block Councilman Jim Doyle for some time and the seat would remain open, perhaps over months.  This is Hudson County after all. Apparently, Beth Mason signed on to this strategy and left the country earlier this week – but no earlier than Monday.  Mason political lawyer Elise DiNardo is also rumored to be involved in some court action today related to this effort.   MSV is investigating this story and awaiting further information. =&3=& Please stay tuned for further updates on this breaking story.
Beth Mason takes an unscheduled vacation or how to leave the country on an emergency vacation to Italy to
advance another lawsuit.  Who are the plaintiffs in a possible action against the City of Hoboken?
As an aside to this appointment last night, didn’t Councilwoman Terry Castellano vote to replace her cousin Anthony Russo with a Russo of a different name on the council named Michael? =&4=&: Beth Mason did not give any advance notice to the City Council she was taking an emergency trip to Italy during the weekday leading into a meeting.   Did she clear it with the FBI? =&5=&: A reliable source says Beth Mason was in fact seen in Hoboken =&6=&
