Beth Mason’s Wheeling – just the tip of the iceberg?

Beth Mason wheeled a big fat $8,200 to Tim Occhipinti’s election campaign exceeding the individual maximum contribution of $2,600 for at least a whopping $13,400 – a matter of public record.  But are there other ethical and/or campaign contribution problems Beth Mason is suffering from in a terminal death spin of hypocrisy? According to a Hoboken Journal report earlier today, there in fact may be.

Beth Mason’s wheeling may not be just the obscene $13,400.  It may in fact be far more.

MSV has also been reviewing Beth Mason’s and Tim Occhipinti’s ELEC reports and there’s some suspicious activity indicating she was most likely playing fast and loose with funneling money to Tim Occhipinti for amounts of loot more than earlier believed.  Money her new puppet on the council needed in the closing days of his campaign to pay his voters, uhm cough cough, his hundreds and hundreds of ‘campaign workers.’ Read More...

Rami Pinchevsky Communique no. 1 – Best City Council, not Best City Council money can buy

Rami for Council announces:

STATEMENT ON MAYOR ZIMMER’S CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM

“For too long, Hoboken’s progress has been stymied by political corruption, pay-to-play politics, and elected officials who put self interest before the public interest. I applaud the Mayor’s campaign finance reform package because it takes us away from the reputation as ‘The Best Council Money Can Buy.’

Public office was meant to be held by the best and the brightest of our community; people who would look out for all of our interests. By limiting the influence of outside PACs, we will be able to see directly who is contributing to a candidate so we, as the public, can make informed decisions in fair elections. Read More...

Greg Lincoln: I’ll take on the ‘rebranded’ Mike Russo for the 3rd ward City Council seat

Greg Lincoln a third ward resident and a voice for intellectual honesty on issues and budget finance who has spoken at City Council meetings is throwing in his hat for the ward’s council seat up for election in May.

Greg Lincoln – 3rd ward candidate for City Council seat

Apparently, Mr. Lincoln a family man himself is more than willing to take on the new cuddly, rebranded Mike Russo and his Daddy’s Civic Association.

Release the hounds!

Talking Ed Note: Greg was also a contributor to the guest column at MSV, “Guest of the Stable.” The link to his piece can be found below:

The rebranding of Mike Russo

After seeing this clip, whole chapters on how to rebrand your political image could be written and in this video, a slick production is looking to market a kinder, softer, and one can even say polite Mike Russo.  It doesn’t hurt to use an expecting wife as a prop who describes your ‘work’ on the City Council as “passionate.”  There are many descriptions of his work in City Council and that description is to put it nicely, incomplete.

This video features the sweet song of catharsis when covering the touchy aspect of Mike Russo’s father.  Call it his Oprah moment. Read More...

Beth Mason cares about you

Here’s the latest political emailer from Beth Mason:

Dear Friend,

As you may be aware Mayor Zimmer recently announced she will release her 2011 budget to the City Council on February 25th and formally present it at the March 2nd City Council meeting.  I look forward to working with the Mayor and my Council colleagues to adopt a budget that will finally provide you with much needed property tax relief.  I remain steadfast in my belief that as much of Hoboken’s budget surplus as possible must be returned in the form of property tax relief.  You are being unfairly overtaxed by City Hall and your money should be returned. I have asked the Mayor to provide the City Council with an itemized budget that includes every expenditure for every department.  While a significant portion of the budget surplus should be returned, it should not be the only source of property tax relief.   We must work together to cut the wasteful spending that has long burdened Hoboken taxpayers. Together we can finally lower taxes and make Hoboken an even better place to live and raise a family. As always please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or are in need of assistance at (201)-916-8244 or Beth@MasonCityCouncil.org.  I look forward to seeing you soon. Thank you for your time. Talking Ed Note:  If you were a reasonable person reading this for the first time, you’d think Beth Mason is also a reasonable person and wants to do the right thing.  Sadly, she only says those things when she is looking for political gain.  Well Beth, you said we had a $20 million surplus and it should be given back.
Where’s my $20 million?

2nd ward City Council Candidate Tom Greaney launches TV ad and website

2nd ward City Council candidate Tom Greaney launched his new website along with an advertisement featured on CNN.  His opponent Councilwoman Beth Mason previously announced her candidacy for the May council election along with an ad previewed in the fall prior to the 4th ward City Council special election.

So with her ad out first, Tom Greaney has now responded in kind.  Kaboom!  The race is on in what promises to be the highest profile and costliest council race.  Beth Mason will uncork a checkbook not only likely to make this the most expensive council race of all the wards this election, but perhaps setting a record of any Council race in Hoboken’s history.
