Hoboken tradition of “VBM” dramatically down

MILE SQUARE VIEW EXCLUSIVE
Hoboken’s Board of Education race, a precursor to the 2017 mayoral sweepstakes is showing some very peculiar oddities. The massive annual Old Guard effort seen in Vote by Mail efforts is MIA.  While the final numbers on the VBMs won’t be confirmed until tomorrow, last year’s massive 600 plus paper blitz citywide does not appear to be materializing, not even remotely. In 2013, MSV exclusively reported the US Department of Justice was in town on Election Day. The story generated no response from the VBM farmers and the output was similar to prior years. It literally caused not a ripple to the typical questionable paid “campaign workers.” The Feds kept their file handy on the Mile Square City. In recent years, the BoE has seen explosive growth in their VBM election totals. Last year over 600 of the paper ballots were tallied late at the Hudson County Board of Elections wiping out a Reach Higher slate sweep and leaving only one of its three candidates, incumbent Tom Kleupfel a winner. The year before the figures were in the 400 range. In off cycle years without a mayor’s race or the Hoboken City Council, the Old Guard has generated a steady diet of the paper ballot assault in the 300 ballpark, most of it coming from the Hoboken Housing Authority. This year, outside of a couple of senior buildings where the OG has farmed early, the torrent typically unleashed in the days leading up to Election Day has not materialized. Rule changes on the handling of Vote by Mail limited the amount of ballots an individual can manage but the impact was not visible until what appears this year an OG VBM drought? MSV will have more on this mystifying development.
One of the shocking audit discoveries under the OG lead BoE back in 2008.
It gave pigs everywhere a bad name. Oink.
=&2=&: The Old Guard fronting its Parents United ticket is not expecting much in the way of a result for its three slate ticket. They’re hopeful they can manage to get Chipper Benway through but the other two candidates are looking like cannon fodder and yesterday’s news. Meanwhile the Forward Together BoE slate is primed for a strong Election Day effort. Backed by strong endorsements and organizational efforts from several key Reform oriented City Council members and the early support of Mayor Zimmer, the best Election Day effort for the BoE slate of Jennifer Evans, Sheillah Dallara and Irene Soblov is primed since 2009. In 2009, the Kids First ticket won a majority and took the reins from the Old Guard uncovering a rift of mismanagement, auditing issues and mediocre test scores. Reforms have rooted out problems and improved the district in all areas since. Over the weekend, the Hudson Reporter gave it the ole OG try, blaming “the bloggers” for a myriad of wacky sins tied to the BoE race and next year’s mayoral. For some reason, Sully can’t tell his farm animals apart from his junkyard dogs. MSV has no idea what he’s babbling about but he’s making no sense. That’s not unusual but it seems more demented than usual.  Feel better Al. If you ever the bravery to talk to a farm animal again, call me and I’ll straighten you out on reality.

Only 34 votes

From the desk of Councilman Ravi Bhalla:

Dear Friends & Neighbors, Only 34 votes.  This was the difference in last year’s election for the Hoboken school board.  For a year now, that number, 34, has stuck in my head. I think about how much of a difference a single vote can make in the outcome of an election. Yesterday, we set our clocks back one hour.  Tomorrow, we risk setting our schools back 10 years if we do not come out in large numbers and support the Forward Together team (1-2-4) of Jen Evans, Sheillah Dallara, and Irene Sobolov. We often hear platitudes from politicians claiming that “every vote counts” and “make your voice heard”.  But in this election for school board, it’s actually true!  The results of last year’s election truly proves that every vote does count in local electins, and you have the ability to make a difference at the ballot box. As one of your Council Members, one thing I have learned is that in order for government to truly serve the people, you need honest, dedicated and talented residents to step up to the plate and run for public office.  Jen, Sheillah and Irene are all of those things and we are fortunate that they are willing to serve our schools and continue the progress. Here is what you can do to make a difference: ·      VOTE for Evans, Dallara and Sobolov 1-2-4 for Hoboken School Board. Polls are open from 6am-8pm and you can find your polling location here. You have three votes for school board. ·      On Election Day, be sure to wear a button or a t-shirt, and get a balloon or sign at our election day HQ at 626 Bloomfield St. Also please consider volunteering an hour or two to help remind Hoboken to vote! We need to show Hoboken there is overwhelming support for Jennifer, Sheillah and Irene! ·      SPREAD THE WORD!  PLEASE forward this email to your friends and neighbors. Spread the word about Jennifer, Sheillah and Irene, and vote 1-2-4!
Thank you! Ravinder S. Bhalla Councilman-at-Large

Internet attack?

Early morning reports state that the internet has seen some stoppages and speculation is it’s tied to tomorrow’s election.

Twitter had been reportedly down for an unknown amount of time earlier with no explanation and WikiLeaks suffered a denial of service attack.

Last night WikiLeaks issued another release of 8,000 emails connected to the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Some of the revelations show coordination between CNN and the DNC. Questions were requested by CNN to be submitted by the DNC used in an interview with Donald Trump among other Republican candidate interviews. Both on air personalities Wolf Blitzer and Jake Tappper were caught in the latest media collusion scandal.  Read More...

Big Mo vs. Big Ground game

The day started with shocking election news for many pollsters who declared the national presidential race over weeks ago.

Count Charlie Cook of the Cook Report on the list of pollsters who find themselves in full retreat. Previously pointing to a Fox poll weeks back he declared, “this race is over.” Today he was forced to admit that isn’t the case “like everyone else.” He remains adamant Clinton is the favorite Tuesday night.

Missing in the retreat is any mention about momentum, only a belief the continued unilateral support from the Corporate Media (including Fox), Wall St. and globalist backing near and far bucking against an American resistance dubbed by some as The Second American Revolution makes Clinton inevitable. Amid strife, terrorist threats and NYPD Blue, it’s GOTV

From Hoboken to Venice Beach, an eye opening election season offered an education you can’t get in any school if you peaked under the covers and paid attention without covering your eyes.

As GOTV (Get Out The Vote) efforts ramp up, rumors of a terrorist attack have suddenly popped up pointing to Monday, the day before Election Day with New York, Virginia and Texas on the list in a NY Daily News story coming from anonymous federal officials. The NY Post has the same story.

More rumors are circulating in ever louder whispers emanating from different sources on the role the New York Police Department played in the widening FBI investigation evolving from the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal. What began as an investigation into sexual texts to a 15 year old North Carolina girl exploded into the reopening of the Hillary Clinton email scandal last Friday. Over 650,000 emails have been discovered on his computer with an untold amount shown coming and going from Hillary Clinton’s illicit home brewed and compromised server (involving at least five intel agencies) and unknown international actors. Hoboken City Council Public Portion for November 2, 2016

Last night a full house for the City Council meeting with half the attendees there on the issue of a proposed settlement on the Monarch Project and the resulting impact shifting that burden to 800 Monroe.

Many speakers highlighted their concerns on different areas of the issues with transparency, fairness, balanced and smart development, precedence and quality of life impact to the neighborhood and Hoboken overall. The residents, many signatories to the petition sponsored by HARMED, Hobokenites Against Radical & Egregious Development addressed these issues in detail.
