Here’s the City Council snow job one day early

(Meeting is posted here in its entirety. Very revealing!)

The real snow comes on Tuesday night but tonight Hoboken prepares to be snowed when Beth Mason and Mike Russo team up on their talking points to snow the rest of the city on why they needlessly grandstanded shutting down a temporary budget proposal with one Mikie Squared wrote on the back of a napkin over dinner.

No joke, Mike Russo actually brought a handwritten budget into the City Council, plopped it on to the table and said here’s the one we should vote on.  (It doesn’t add up but he along with Beth Mason and the Council of No Four plus Nino Giacchi insisted everyone do a big circle jerk, drop everything and figure out how to make it work.) Horse Sense: Mason & Russo – time to clean up your mess

With the takeover of the City Council complete at least until the council elections in May, Beth Mason and Mike Russo have been running their playbook joined at the hip.  Their biggest challenge in the first City Council meeting in 2011 with the overthrow of the sitting Council President was taking on the mayor’s temporary budget, typically a straightforward process where a NJ municipality takes three months based on a percentage in the range of 26.5% from the previous budget until a required audit is completed. Incompetence on Display – Mason-Russo politrickery dance shuts Hoboken down

The first order of budgetary business by the Mason-Russo majority has been to completely shut down the whole city’s ability to pay its bills.  But legally, it’s now learned that includes even payroll!

So if you Hoboken employees out there are hyperventilating with the grandstanding budgetary incompetence on display at Wednesday’s meeting, look no further than Beth Mason and Mikie Squared.  MSV posted a key video clip of the disaster from that meeting earlier today.

THEY JUST SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING INCLUDING YOU!  AND NO ONE IS GETTING PAID!  COME MONDAY NIGHT AND SEE IF YOU DO! Read More...

Beth Mason and Mike Russo take Hoboken for a budget politrickery dance

At the coronation of Beth Mason’s elevation to City Council President, the budget politrickery began immediately as her new ‘majority,’ led by Councilman Mike Russo sprang his own version of a temporary budget handwritten off the back of his napkin he had over dinner.

It’s unclear who actually put together the information for him as he doesn’t seem to understand the basics of how a temporary amended budget is put together based on a percentage of a prior year.

Beth Mason is witnessed incompetently along for the ride on Russo’s plan to present a “budget by surprise,” to everyone for the first time and then haggle over all the details leading to an absolute farce and shutdown of Hoboken’s ability to pay any bills whatsoever. Read More...
