Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher: “9/11 – Please join your neighbors and friends to honor those who were lost”

    Official release:

    Dear friends and neighbors:

The anniversary of 9/11 is upon us.  I think everyone we know will be thinking at some point about where they were 17 years ago when they first heard that “a plane crashed into the World Trade Center…”.  And for so many, their lives will have been forever changed.    I was at the DMV in North Bergen.  I heard the news over the radio.  And when the second plane hit I left abruptly and made my way home to Hoboken just in time to watch the second tower collapse along with the rest of the world.  Although I was spared any personal loss that day I, like all of you, continue to ache for all of our friends and neighbors who were not as lucky.   Read More...

Sign of the Times: Bob vs. Bob in Hudson County

Yesterday, an unlikely coincidence as the battle of the Bobs for NJ Senate found its way into Hudson County.

In Jersey City, a HudCo shindig arranged by County Democratic Chair Amy DeGise saw hundreds gathered to declare the HudCo war over and efforts focused to see incumbent Senator Bob Menendez stay in Washington DC for another six years. Hudco party boss himself, Bob Menendez was on hand.

Meanwhile, a protest against Menendez featuring upstart Bob Hugin backers arrived to make noise eventually seeing the Bob Hugin “Send in a Marine” bus enter Hoboken traveling north on Washington St. Those soldiers operated sans Bob. Read More...

City Council votes 7-2 to remove Planning Board Commissioner Gary Holtzman

The Hoboken City Council began the official process of removing a planning board commissioner who remains silent with revelations of a letter sent to developers with a “recommendation” list of attorneys to use.

The City Council with direction from its legal counsel officially began the process with a 7-2 vote. The two dissenting votes came from Bhalla Administration supporters Jim Doyle and Emily Jabbour.

It’s unclear why Gary Holtzman, a seven-year commissioner on the board would suddenly take on such an action at odds with its core function, spurring concerns of ethical and legal consequences inside City Hall and the land use legal community at large. Read More...

City Council back to business as Hoboken springs a leak… everywhere

The summer season in the Mile Square City featured a series of water main breaks topped off with a whopper at Newark and Hudson last week.
