On Saturday, March 5, 2011, the City of Hoboken will be hosting the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade is very popular and draws tens of thousands of people to our city. At times, some of our residents and guests become disorderly and unruly making it a difficult day for our residents who do not celebrate the day. In order to keep our city under control and create a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, I will have most of my officers working on that day, out on our streets, on patrol. My officers will be strictly enforcing all criminal and motor vehicle laws as well as all city ordinance violations. Mayor Dawn Zimmer invites residents to a community meeting on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 to discuss quality of life issues. Topics for discussion will include Mayor Zimmer and Police Chief Falco’s plans to implement a revised noise ordinance to address noise concerns, a proposed change to the sidewalk café ordinance, and other resident concerns. NY Times comes to Hoboken reporting ‘On the Waterfront’

‘The New York Times posted a feature story on the woes of the Hoboken waterfront and it wasn’t surrounding the landmark film of the same name.  The feature quotes Mayor Dawn Zimmer who declines to point fingers at her predecessors for the incompetence in creating and maintaining the jewel of Hoboken.

Not long ago, there was a political operation to pin the blame for problems of the waterfront on Mayor Zimmer.  Inane remarks began appearing on local internet websites such as the NJ.com Hoboken Forum, where rumors and less than savory (or truthful) political attacks go to germinate. Read More...

Peter Cunningham: Stop the Wheeling!

At the last City Council meeting, the Beth Mason – Mike Russo junta suffered through the limited presentation on the election reform package sponsored by Council members Peter Cunningham and Ravi Bhalla.  The package, consisting of an updated pay-to-play ordinance and tightening a loophole to stop wheeling.

Beth Mason who declared herself a champion of pay-to-play reform sits atop the problem, obliterating the spirit if not the law in her family contributions to the Tim Occhipinti campaign in 4th ward election last November.  Where $2,600 is the individual maximum, she routed well over $13,000 and based on the list of contributions to Occho-corrupto, it’s suspect that isn’t the real and final tally.  More on that for another day. Tom Greaney is running for City Council in Hoboken’s Second Ward.

Greaney, a civic activist who has spoken out repeatedly on the need to cut taxes and improve the City’s infrastructure, has entered the race “because Hoboken is at a crossroads”, fiscally, socially, and politically.

Hoboken411 caught in yet another flagrant lie on City towing bid

Hoboken411, the biggest Hoboken online fabricating uber Beth Mason promoting website is caught red handed fibbing again – this time on its claim Mile Square Towing was the lowest bidder for a City towing contract.

At the City Council meeting Wednesday night, an attorney for Mile Square Towing appeared questioning why the only two bids were being rejected as the likelihood of winning is certainly greater with a 50% chance than seeing it go out again to new potential bidders.

Among the litany of lies in this one paragraph is the claim Mile Square Towing is the lowest bid

The City explained that recent snowstorms meant the bid specifications were incomplete required updating and needed to be reissued.  Mile Square Towing understood the answer but apparently that wasn’t good enough for Hoboken411 also known in town as Mason411. Read More...

There’s a lot being bandied about Wednesday night’s City Council meeting and much of it utter nonsense, devoid of any real substance.  Let’s catch folks up who missed it because well the truth eludes some local media editors and those feigning to be media.
