According to a report on InsiderNJ, Hoboken resident and businessman Michael Flett will be joining him as an at-large council candidate in the November election for mayor and council.

Among his reasons, Flett says taxes should be lowered with the increasing tax base but under Mayor Zimmer have remained flat.

 “This burden makes it difficult, if not impossible, to afford to pay for college for your children or save for retirement. All the new development in town during the last 10 years should have reduced homeowners’ and business owners’ taxes, but instead our current administration took the savings and increased spending. Hoboken should be a destination where people want to lay down roots and raise their families, but we are currently taxing many of them out of town. But Antonio Grana didn’t vote Column F for only one candidate against his Column E colleagues as he originally claimed

After rechecking and seeking more sources on who Antonio Grana voted for at the Hoboken Democratic Committee, a number of people said he voted against his Column E committee colleagues more than once.

Grana claimed Wednesday in a phone interview to only vote for Column F the one time it cynically put forward Dave Mello for a committee leadership position.

Councilman Ravi Bhalla, a former Hoboken Democratic Committee Chair acknowledged he saw Antonio Grana vote for Column F candidate “Uncle” George DeStefano, a family member of and political ally of the Russo Clan. Read More...

In a bombshell story just released, the Hudson County View is reporting Anthony “Stick” Romano the former Hoboken Police Captain and current Freeholder will toss his hat into the ring and run for mayor in the Mile Square City this November.

According to the Hudson County View story, an announcement of some sort is expected to occur soon, based on an intimate source to the Romano camp.

Tonight the first meeting after the local Democratic Party elections last week will meet and elect new leadership. Tiffanie Fisher, the second ward councilwoman who was one of the key participants in leading a smashing victory over the Russo Clan is expected to be elected the Chairwoman of the Hoboken Democratic Committee.

In addition to a new chair, the leadership elections taken tonight will likely see Mayor Zimmer made honorary chair and elect new Vice Chairs with long time Reform activist and Hoboken Zoning Board member Phil Cohen taking one of those roles. One Old Hoboken couple will see a member elected to a Vice Chair role and Kurt Gardiner, a commissioner on the North Hudson Sewerage Authority is anticipated to be voted as Sargent at Arms. The lone dissent and vote against the Southwest Redevelopment Plan came from Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher in the vote as she stated:

“The thing that is frustrating to me is that there are a number of people here that weren’t part of the process [dating back to 2006]. The process to offer feedback hasn’t been inviting,” she stated.

“When I gave input by asking questions about the plan, in response I was effectively told that the questions would delay the process. Basically says that my only input is my vote. If that is the case, and I have these concerns, then I cannot support the plan tonight.” Read More...
