Hoboken411- the muck that produced the mire

Our colleague at the Hoboken Journal put an end to the woeful Craigslist attacks saga by extending forgiveness to the guilty party.  As our horse sense predicted, a Hoboken411 minion was the guilty party.  Although the jolly green giant is closing the case, we note another Hoboken411 minion took every extreme liberty of free speech to insult, harass and act in the most nasty demeaning way possible.  Of course this wasn’t done at Hoboken411, you can’t even have polite disagreeable discourse there.  And there’s the irony. Tonight’s the nite

Normally we’d be setting up for a City Council meeting here and tonight is important as the budget is front and center with the public getting a chance to offer their perspective on the matter.  Da Horsey will be on site to get a first hand take and do some live reporting where appropriate.  In addition, we are teaming up with the jolly green giant at the Hoboken Journal so tune in there if you want to catch our onsite observations.

Also, we are collecting your questions about the budget.  Please send them no later than 12 noon tomorrow to smartyjones@me.com.  No, we aren’t saying why yet.  It’s a surprise. Read More...

Actor Alex Corrado – Zoned out of Hoboken

=&0=&

Alex Corrado, former Hoboken resident and member of the Hoboken Zoning Board announced his resignation in a letter to the mayor at City Hall Tuesday. Corrado’s rumored departure from a family residence on Hudson St. earlier this year came way of a former senior government official and neighbor that he had not been in Hoboken for quite some time.  Before New Year’s, MSV repeatedly contacted Mr. Corrado to inquire on his residency in Hoboken and his intentions regarding his seat on the zoning board but there was no reply to multiple phone messages to his mobile, Morganville, NJ family home and email. Year of the Tiger

Since the United States is now practically a subsidiary of the Chicoms, it’s only fitting that we recognize the Chinese calendar.  Perhaps if we adopt it, they will continue to buy the US record selling debt via US Treasuries.  Or maybe not.  Well when you are about to create a run on your currency, anything is worth a try.  If that doesn’t work, how about going back and bowing?  Has to get the US more than the pat on the back from the last visit.

Here’s one general summary.  One way or another it will be a big one for Da Horsey. Read More...

Breaking: We have assumed control.

MILE SQUARE VIEW EXCLUSIVE

Apocalypse Blog!

There was a time in the not so distant past when there was not a bad website in town where all the creatures of the land would come to dwell and share thoughts and watch the comings and goings of store openings, closings and pipe bursts.  Then it declared itself the political kingmaker of the castle, announced a new queen and went on its merry way sinking into a mire of self-destruction, massive censorship and paranoia.

Along came one disenchanted guest, a big jolly green vegetable who danced to the song of Howard “The Scream” Dean, fell in love with the cob, added butter and began to dance to the song of a new queen who also was rumored to be a descendant of the fifth Beatle. Read More...

Block the Nominations! (609) 292-6000

Council President Peter Cunningham is making one big final push to ask our citizenry to push back on the lame duck appointments by Gov. Corzine to the NJ Pension Board.  Here’s the email addresses (we think phone is even better):

govelect@govelect.state.nj.us, Senstack@njleg.orgsenbsmith@njleg.org, senbuono@njleg.orgsensarlo@njleg.org, (these folks can block the nominations)

Copy the nominees:
aeeaton@rci.rutgers.edu (Adrienne Eaton) 216 Lawrence Ave, Highland
Park, NJ 08904
skrengel@edlawcenter.org (Sharon Krengel)
Local108yttw@msn.com (Ira Stern – Nominated for the Chair position)
pbvoos@rci.rutgers.edu (Paula Voos)

MSV believes phone calls are best and form letters the least effective.  Here is the number to Gov. Corzine’s office.  Ask to speak to a governor’s aide: (609) 292-6000.
Here’s a sample letter from Peter Cunningham:

Sign of the Times: We’re hungry

It’s the big day after and folks clearly didn’t have adequate food at home.  Into the afternoon when this shot was taken, there were lines extended well outside the Hoboken Bagels on Washington St. near 7th.  Stacks Pancakes also had a line outside the door mid-afternoon as well.

They’re baaaaaaaccck

After some bad weather yesterday, the helicopter patrols have again started up and down the length of Hoboken.  We have lots of pictures today and a familiar red one is back too.  Can there be that many demanding traffic reports on New Year’s Day?  There’s several apparently making the rounds and the other day we counted five different ones in total.

Regardless of their reason for being up there, we support them in the work their doing if it is at all security related.  Our horse sense says it is. Read More...

Wot no food network?

Happy New Year!  A reader notified us in this good am about the loss of some Cablevision stations today.  Apparently it’s part of some feud that Cablevision seems to go through on a regular basis with different stations.  Some years back the big feud was when the Yankees slugged it out and only appeared on satellite television.  My neighbor was a big Yankee fan and he signed up and Cablevision bravely held out that season.

So 2010 rings in with the loss of the Food Network and HGTV at least for now and it looks like it’s all over the Tri-State area.  Hey, if this is the worst we’ll face this year, I’d take it but unfortunately most of us will suffer the sling and arrows far more than this.

Okay, not to worry we still have the Twilight Zone New Year’s Marathon on the Syfy channel in the original black and white.  This classic series with Rod Serling rates among Da Horsey’s all time favorites.   Someone has done a graphic to update the original episode, “To Serve Man” one of our favorite episodes into “To Serve Gov.”
