Chris Campos wants your money; Judge says “Denied!”

“Show me the money” lawsuit fails

A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit by former fourth ward councilman Chris Campos claiming a conspiracy by police in Hoboken and New York city against him. The decision came last month but is now being reported on NJ.com’s Hoboken Now.

The claimed conspiracy began according to Campos when they unnecessarily gave him a breathalyzer test after he ran a red light back in 2007.

There’s no certainty on an appeal.  The likelihood of Chris Campos getting your money now is far more remote. Read More...

Sign of the Times: Hippies in Hoboken

Nose assaulting Hippies have hit the land.  (Click to enlarge.)

A group of hippies have been spotted around town.  Two of the four carry guitars and one is a girl.  They are immediately noticeable by their colorless garb that blends well together as in, it hasn’t seen a laundry in a long time.

This picture taken on Washington Street coincides with other sightings in other places around town.  Word of warning: don’t get too close.  No, it’s not that they bite.  But word to the wise, don’t breathe through the nose.  They smell.  Bad. Read More...

Hoboken blog wars!

Andrew Tavani who may be one of the best feature writers in Hoboken, investigated Hoboken’s blog scene for Hoboken Patch and comes up with some surprising and not so surprising details on the battle for local eyeballs.  Hoboken has a lively blogging scene, for many of you that will obviously be an understatement – for others it’s an occasional pastime.

Some of the surprises: Hoboken411 and its notorious owner Perry Klaussen hid some revealing statistics showing he isn’t really as big and bad as he said he was.  In fact, it’s clear he’s lost significant readership and those who have stayed around only do so for brief periods neglecting to leave many comments in their wake (the content being what it is these days.) Horse Sense photo essay: Scenes inside last week’s City Council meeting

MILE SQUARE EXCLUSIVE

The last City Council created scenes of drama but this time most were not of the manufactured variety.  Heartfelt moments with stressed officers, family members saddened by the impact they felt was coming and an overcrowded room with the air conditioning failing as a result.  Four hours of the public speaking almost all of it from the “sea of yellow” gave way to the full range of human emotion in a stifling, overcrowded City Council Chamber.  The heat was nothing compared to the internal combustion felt by many in the room. Vince Lombardi’s pre-City Council meeting address

While trying to get some photos of the sea of yellow shirts filling City Council Chambers before the meeting, we captured some video with PBA President Vince Lombardi addressing members and supporters.

After we had a brief chat and discussed some of the concerns he felt were not being heard by the public.  His main point was the report the union prepared was not fairly evaluated.  He said the report was perhaps too long and an executive summary was missing and would have been useful.  He accepted an invitation to have it posted here if one is issued.
