DeFusco camp: 75K, we’ll buy a lot of beer

The pending entry of Freeholder Anthony “Stick” Romano is causing major agita in the Mike DeFusco for mayor camp.

Friday night MSV was alerted to a claim of 75K raised at the prior night’s fundraiser and the promise of more campaign loot to come.

There’s been a lot said of the mother’s milk of campaigns and most often it’s a prognosticator of election success. This however hasn’t been true in Hoboken since the rise of the Hoboken Reform Movement in 2009.

It’s equally evident last November when $1.2 billion far outpaced the main opposition funding but Hillary Clinton went down in flames. Money just ain’t what it used to be versus the electorate. Read More...

Committeeman Antonio Grana: “I voted with Column F for Dave Mello”

But Antonio Grana didn’t vote Column F for only one candidate against his Column E colleagues as he originally claimed

After rechecking and seeking more sources on who Antonio Grana voted for at the Hoboken Democratic Committee, a number of people said he voted against his Column E committee colleagues more than once.

Grana claimed Wednesday in a phone interview to only vote for Column F the one time it cynically put forward Dave Mello for a committee leadership position.

Councilman Ravi Bhalla, a former Hoboken Democratic Committee Chair acknowledged he saw Antonio Grana vote for Column F candidate “Uncle” George DeStefano, a family member of and political ally of the Russo Clan. Read More...

Hoboken Democratic Committee Meeting: Notes from the Underground

=&0=&

The underground meeting, literally, of the Hoboken Democratic Meeting took place last night at Hoboken Bar & Grill. It was a standing room only affair.

Mayor Zimmer’s victorious Column E committee slate took command after annihilating the Russo Clan’s Column F. There were but a few dying gasps with the transition.

Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher is the
new chair of the Hoboken Democratic Committee
replacing Freeholder Anthony “Stick” Romano

Second Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher was voted Chairwoman but it didn’t come without a little attempted sabotage. Mustering about ten votes, Column F attempted to foil the councilwoman by nominating Mayor Zimmer. With about 52 of 63 election committee winners showing up for Column E vs. 8 of 17 for Column F, the votes were not in doubt and the divisive tactic didn’t take hold. Read More...

Southwest Redevelopment Plan passes but questions loom with dissent

The following story comes courtesy of the Hudson County View:

The lone dissent and vote against the Southwest Redevelopment Plan came from Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher in the vote as she stated:

“The thing that is frustrating to me is that there are a number of people here that weren’t part of the process [dating back to 2006]. The process to offer feedback hasn’t been inviting,” she stated.

“When I gave input by asking questions about the plan, in response I was effectively told that the questions would delay the process. Basically says that my only input is my vote. If that is the case, and I have these concerns, then I cannot support the plan tonight.” Read More...

Adams family values?

Put this one in the cockadoodle doo category.

Last night featured some serious City Council business and a number of public speakers but one late to the game started by complaining about the Vape Van incident and then went on with a six minute prepared rant against the First Amendment and slandered who knows how many people including this editor demanding they be sanctioned and censored!

Hello Hoboken election season.

The Vape Van was declared “hateful hate speech” and it went downhill from there. Subsidiary complaints with heaping helpings of slander for six minutes ranting against MSV, Grafix Avenger, BoE trustee Irene Sobolov, Council members Dave Mello and Ravi Bhalla among unknown others. Read More...
