Four weeks out….

=&0=& The Mile Square City suffers from a seasonal schipzoprhenic division, one of many its undegone in recent years. Summer lingered and suddenly it’s four weeks out to a November election. Is the public ready?

From all appearances the answer may be negative. The public is by all appearance less than energized in the Mile Square partly due to the astounding success of Mayor Zimmer and her council allies who have held the reins for most of the last six years other than a short but brief reign of terror from the chair of Beth Mason and the Russo faction.

That terror was real, destructive and sadly for voters with short memories distant. The hospital in the fall of 2011 was thee major issue as Mayor Zimmer fought with a group of volunteer Hoboken residents led by hospital board chair Toni Tamarazzo to pull off a stunning reclamation keeping the doors of Hoboken University Medical Center open. Sign of the Times: Mike Russo says, ‘Let’s move on and stop talking about our corruption’

MILE SQUARE VIEW EXCLUSIVE

Councilman Michael Russo’s had enough. Recent elections in Hoboken invariably see more than whispers about corruption.

The Hoboken corruption chatter builds upon the people who won’t vote for him, his select City Council running mates and the agenda of their big developer allies be it the Barry family, re: Applied companies / Ironstate Development, BASF, etc.

Worse, those people are more likely to vote for candidates with a professional pedigree for 21st good governance and work with Mayor Zimmer. Read More...

Mayor Zimmer: ‘Let’s vote back Peter Cunningham and Jen Giattino to the Hoboken City Council’

Dear Horsey & MSV readers, I am writing to express my enthusiastic support for the re-election on November 3rd of 5th Ward Councilman Peter Cunningham and 6th Ward Councilwoman Jen Giattino.

Our City has made an enormous amount of progress over the past several years. Here are just a few examples of what we’ve accomplished together:

We’ve reduced the municipal portion of our taxes by almost 10 percent since their peak in 2010, while creating a fiscally responsible surplus that improved our bond rating from near junk to AA+.

We’ve upgraded our existing parks with innovative new equipment and opened new parks at Pier C and 1600 Park.

Projects are underway that will add an additional 8 acres of new open space in the Western side of the City. This includes a 5-acre Resiliency Park, and a new large municipal parking garage to be built in the 5th Ward. Read More...

Coming to an election near you in 2015? “the way Applied strong-armed the vote for so many years”

=&0=& Applied Housing “strong-armed” voter intimidation tactics against Hoboken residents highlighted as November 3rd election approaches

On Thursday, MSV reported allegations of threats against residents in Applied Housing in the second ward and the arm twisting by its building management to vote against council candidate Tiffanie Fisher and for Peter Biancamano.

Back in 2009, this was openly discussed in the Beth Mason campaign among her coterie of political operatives.

In a March 7, 2009 email, this Beth Mason political operative email highlighted the pros and cons of putting a son of Applied Housing management, Raulito Morales on Beth Mason’s City Council ticket with that “benefit.” (Michael Russo told FBI informant Solomon Dwek on surveillance tape in a Jersey City restaurant he was picking all three of the council candidates on Beth Mason’s City Council slate around the same time.) Dear Friend,

In case you may have missed my email last week, it would be great to see you this Tuesday, October 6 at Arthur’s Tavern to support our City Council team. I can’t emphasize enough how important this election is to ensuring our City continues on a solid track moving forward. This means continuing our AA+ rating record of financial responsibility, infrastructure investment in our roads like Washington Street, protecting our City from flooding, and so much more. Please come out to meet Jen, Peter, Mike, Dana and Tiffanie this Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Arthur’s Tavern.

Thanks again, and I look forward to catching up.

Your friend,

Dawn

PS – We’d love to see everyone and want to let you know the minimum donation is just $100. Since elections are expensive I hope you will consider giving $250 (Guest), $500 (Host), and $1,000 (Chair). Thanks!

Grist for the Mill: Newest “Darksider” Kaufmann going under the bus?

When you embrace what Grafix Avenger affectionately dubs “the Darksiders,” there’s risks. The idea of immortality for one sounds nice until you discover there won’t be any summer days at the beach in Miami or the Caribbean.

Get wrapped up in some darksider vampire hype can be a real pain in the neck.

When it comes to the Hoboken Board of Eduction races, the Darksiders like to throw curveballs and lop on a spitter when the mood strikes them and a “yuppie” is temporarily under their spell. Read More...
