Word on the street of a rumored poll says Councilman Ravi Bhalla’s bid for mayor is flailing. Over at Sybil’s Cave the foaming and frothing desperation is seeping in as they feel the surge of Jen Giattino’s campaign on the streets of Hoboken.
The Cave is the online HQ for the Bhalla campaign where its inner circle spreads disinformation and heaps personal attacks on anyone who dares to publicly oppose Bhalla. They’ve resorted to all kinds of personal insults as they are apparently already in vengeance mode. Rumors of another recent poll out late yesterday suggests Ravi Bhalla’s campaign is sinking, even with all the big bucks from outside Hoboken flooding in of approximately $400,000.
The PAC TV ads supporting Ravi Bhalla haven’t gone unnoticed. Pleas that the Stronger Foundations PAC pushing Bhalla and connected to the transportation union Local 825 is a mere Festivus miracle aren’t going over well with Team Romano.
The PAC cable TV ads show dollars cascading around Anthony “Stick” Romano led to a backlash.
That backlash came in the form of Team Romano releasing a little video of their own. The ad highlights the conflicts discussed about Ravi Bhalla and Suez water. Hoboken currently sits on a $8.35 million liability owed to Suez, its water vendor.
Early this am, a skirmish is taking place between mayoral rivals Jen Giattino and Ravi Bhalla.
City Council President Jen Giattino is joined by council members Peter Cunningham and Tiffanie Fisher and a phalanx of volunteers bringing their formidable grass roots power into double digits.
Giant reformer, Kurt Gardiner is on the scene pitching in and sent some impromptu photos including this partial shot of Team Giattino with candidates Jason Ellis (city council) and Jen Giattino (mayor) and some of the volunteers on hand.
The following analysis is based on public information and a news story yesterday appearing on the Hudson County View with the considerable opinion here gained covering Hoboken for more than eight years.
The Bhalla campaign seeing mounting criticism with the discovery of a PAC by a transportation union that earlier endorsed him from outside Hoboken backing the NJ Transit development plan in Hoboken finally commented on the escalating controversy.
In a statement to Hudson County View, the Bhalla campaign said the infrastructure plan announced yesterday was “not in any way related” to the union backed PAC that recently endorsed him, Local 825, the International Union of Operating Engineers.

Hoboken’s contentious mayoral election is red hot. If the trail isn’t warm enough for you, there’s this commercial looking production flying around town about Ravi Bhalla and the Suez water contract. Although it’s not clear where it originates, there’s many opponents who would be so motivated.
Or perhaps a citizen’s group is retaliating for Ravi Bhalla’s pay to play PAC connections as seen on the Fox News channel commercials connected to the massive proposed NJ Transit development downtown.
