The money behind the shill

As we wind down to Thanksgiving and surprisingly although we thought many were already doing so, the final tally of visitors yesterday was shockingly high, telling us some are focused on Thanksgiving and others are still focused on Hoboken.

In keeping with the theme of giving thanks, a reliable unconfirmed source provided some additional details on late arriving monies on behalf of Tim Occhipinti in the fourth ward council race.

Councilman Tim Occhipinti – his campaign is the focus of an investigation at the County prosecutor level but has also reached the State Attorney General’s Office the same week as his first council meeting.

Some of you with great memories and histories in town will know these names, others may not, but it’s indicative in many respects.  One can sell out but it’s more important not only to know what someone sells out for, but who they sell out to. Read More...

Hudson Reporter: a blog post too far?

The Hudson Reporter like others has delved into the arena of whether parody has gone too far in the punditry of a graphic featured on Grafix Avenger.

The story appeared on page one along with the big news of the State Attorney General seeing the arrival of the stacks of alleged election fraud problems put forward from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s office surrounding Tim Occhipinti and his campaign earlier this month.

As MSV rarely does online polls, if you wish to vote on this here’s how they framed it: Read More...

4th ward already souring on Tim 'money mouth' Occhipinti

TheBankRobber a 4th ward resident sent in this artwork from lower Jackson Street with the following thoughts:

A drawing of Tim Occhipinti shows him happy, missing but with smiling dollars

Just sending you this picture as a heads up of the missing 4th ward representative. I know Timmy has some other problems on his mind these days, but I’d like to point out that I’ve never seen Timmy in my beloved 4th Ward!

O.K., I saw him once, and that was after he finally figured out where to vote on election day. I understand that being the 4th Ward representative doesn’t necessarily mean that Timmy has to constantly walk the mean streets of the 4th Ward, but he did say at the most recent council meeting that he’s voting against the Corner Cars because of the people he’s spoken to in the 4th ward. That is when I realized that I’ve never seen him here! Read More...

Zoning attorney wins award for ethics

Atlantic City: The League of Municipalities recognizes good governance practices and recently highlighted the Hoboken Corner Cars program as a positive innovation but the good news for the town doesn’t end there.  Hoboken’s Zoning Board attorney placed the town on top again with a prestigious award.

The award for ethics in government – the Michael A. Pane Award was presented to Dennis M. Galvin, Esq by both Mrs. Pane and her son, Michael Pane.  The plaque reads, “Conferred upon the Attorney who has exemplified the highest standards of ethics and whose work has significantly enhanced the integrity of local government.”

Mr. Galvin, addressed the State’s local government lawyers, saying: “No one is perfect. We are all put to the test. The difference is how we respond to our test by the choices we make. We must seek out the better nature in ourselves and in those we represent. Good and bad choices are contagious. Let’s make ethical behavior viral.” Read More...

Sunday thoughts with Da Horsey

MSV hears the Ministry of Propaganda at Chez Mason is not enamored with criminal referrals to the Attorney General on electoral fraud in the 4th ward election.  No approval from the Queen means nary a mention of the week’s biggest news.  Got propaganda?

This week provided some illumination in grafix, performance art and the art of the sleaze even overfilling an angry drunk’s glass filled with the foul taste of anti-Semitism thrown in the mix.  One thing bartenders know in Hoboken is not to give another shot to an angry drunk.

That’s exactly what occurred Monday night when Beth Mason’s favorite angry performance artist decided to use similarity to a movie poster as a prop to make charges of fascism and anti Semitism legitimate tools for grabbing a balance of power seat on the local zoning board. Read More...
