An alleged targeted attack possibly arising out of a homicide investigation led to an afternoon shootout in Jersey City yesterday leaving six dead.

Of those, one was a 17-year Jersey City police officer, Joe Seals. Three victims are civilians caught in a deli when the gunmen took over the location. The alleged perpetrators were reported dead on the scene.

=&0=& Chris Campos, the former Hoboken City Council President and fourth ward councilman convicted and imprisoned for running a fraudulent multi-million dollar car leasing scheme has been released from federal prison in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The facility is sometimes jokingly referenced as “West Hoboken” by locals for housing convicted Hoboken politicos. The same Lewisburg prison hosted former mayor and convicted felon Peter Cammarano.  It will, however, not be co-hosting Campos and recently sentenced politico Frank “Pupie” Raia who is set to serve three months in federal prison for undertaking a voter fraud scheme using Vote-by-Mail ballots. Campos, a lawyer, is currently residing in transitional housing in Brooklyn finishing out a 30 month sentence pending official release in March next year. It appears to be the same transitional facility where Peter Cammarano finished his sentence for taking $25,000 in bribes from a federal informant, Solomon Dwek. As originally detailed by Ted Sherman in NJ.com: The scheme involved dozens of buyers who borrowed money to buy new cars they could not afford, for vehicles they claimed were for their own personal use, but were actually leased out to others and driven as cabs on the streets of New York. More than $7 million in loans were obtained from multiple banks, and most went into default, said prosecutors. Acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Joon H. Kim said Campos defrauded lenders out of millions of dollars.

SantaCon, the annual event inviting a drinking day promoted by 11 local bar and restaurants on Saturday saw eight arrests, mostly of people from out of town.

Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante published via Twitter details on the arrests and recorded the eighth:

Arrest #8 was a female from Jersey City at 94 Harrison St, for DWI, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, & Possession with Intent to Distribute Drugs within 500 feet of a Public Housing Complex, by Officer Ricky Truppner.

The sentencing date set of tomorrow for Frank “Pupie” Raia for directing a 2013 voter fraud scheme involving Vote-by-Mail ballots oddly came up a day early with a surprise outcome.

Raia who had failed to obtain a new trial saw several earlier sentencing dates come and go before the surprise announcement this morning he was sentenced in Newark federal court to three months in federal prison with a $50,000 fine.  According to the Department of Justice spokesman, after serving his sentence Raia will be subject to a year of supervised release.  Raia’s sidekick soldier, Dio Braxton, saw his sentencing originally planned for tomorrow in tandem=&0=& Raia’s sentencing was reported earlier today by the Hudson County View and quoted US District Judge William J. Martini saying, “…some form of punishment is still necessary – if for no other reason to deter others who think they can tamper with the electoral process.”

Raia faced a maximum sentence of up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine after being convicted before a jury last July. In 2013, Raia was a council candidate backing a mayoral slate which finished third while he came in seventh place and out of the running for a council seat.
