SantaCon fizzles out in Hoboken
The annual mobile booze-fest known as SantaCon descended on Hoboken Saturday and the results saw an improvement from the prior year based on initial police reports.
Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante kept a straight face while sharing timely updates via his twitter.
The overall impact was more positive, weather being some aid.
Numbers of incidents in all categories appear to be half of what they were last year while we still had crowds and the same # of officers on— Chief Ken Ferrante (@KenFerrante) December 18, 2016
The resulting lower numbers translated into a reduction in arrests:
At the 2015 SantaCon event in Hoboken, there were 9 arrests compared to this year’s 5. Yesterday @HobokenPD issued 30 City Ord summonses.— Chief Ken Ferrante (@KenFerrante) December 18, 2016
The 5 arrests were for : Obstruction, Disorderly Conduct, DWI, Criminal Mischief and Aggravated Assault. 4 were males and 1 was female.— Chief Ken Ferrante (@KenFerrante) December 18, 2016
On the medical front, there was good news as well.
The @CityofHoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to 23 medical calls yesterday. There were no serious injuries & no officers injured.— Chief Ken Ferrante (@KenFerrante) December 18, 2016
