Back in the fall of 2009, a full all out scramble was on in a winner take all race for mayor. Hoboken was splintered with candidates and whoever came out on top no matter how small a percentage would take the crown.

Frank “Pupie” Raia who is a legend in his own mind put out an unintentionally hilarious video on parking.  If you put aside his contention angle parking would double the space in town, you could certainly enjoy it.  (It’s not even legal or possible in many places.)

We found this gem on youtube after thinking it was lost forever.  It was part of a resident’s contribution supporting then Acting Mayor Dawn Zimmer.

Raia was in a close battle for second place but finished distant to Mayor Zimmer.  He’s been “angling” since but it isn’t for parking.  He’s a viable candidate for mayor next spring in 2013.

In 2009, Raia spent over $200,000 to run for the office.  He’s been telling everyone in town “Hoboken loves Raia, Hoboken needs Raia.”  We’re not sure who’s signed on yet but that will be the subject of another story.

There’s a lot to tell on that front.  For now, let’s enjoy some pupie wisdom or comedy.
