Back on the ballot… and the ballot!

Last year the rent control ballot question was one of several on a full voting sheet.  This year it will be alone and for those who don’t recall, here is the wording:

BREAKING: Appellate Court rules new election for rent control question

Last November’s razor thin outcome on the rent control question, garnering over 16,000 votes is ordered back on the ballot this November by the NJ Appellate Court.

The ruling comes after a contentious appeal surrounding 114 voters out of town who filed they were not given an opportunity to vote on Ballot Question #2 on rent control changes.  Hoboken voters had the option of voting out of Hoboken provisionally but only email voters could vote on the ballot questions due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy. Horse Sense: Reflecting on Hoboken’s lacking a 9-11 Memorial

Hoboken’s temporary 9-11 memorial in Pier A Park fell apart sadly and the permanent one which went through agonizing public input sessions with major contributions from family members who lost loved ones living in Hoboken seemed all but done early this year.

In honor of all those murdered that day, honor too those in Hoboken who perished. Please hold all of them and their families in prayer.

US Senate candidate Steve Lonegan slams Obamacare and “impeachable” offense bombing Syria

In a Hoboken press conference across the street from an event where Rite Aid announced it would allow promotion of the Obamacare plan in its stores, US Senate Candidate Steve Lonegan slammed Obamacare saying the individual mandate’s implementation should be delayed as it has for employers and doing so would save taxpayers $35 billion in a single year.

“The Obamacare plan is a failed plan… and an unfair system,” Lonegan stated adding it was detrimental to the economy.

Lonegan also criticized President Obama and his rival Mayor Cory Booker on Syria, the former for refusing to say he’d accept the outcome of a congressional vote on attacking Syria the later for what he described as flip flopping. Read More...

9-11 Memorial Service at Pier A Wednesday at 6:30

Community: Hoboken to Host Annual September 11th Interfaith Memorial Service

The Hoboken community will come together to share in its annual September 11th Interfaith Memorial Service for the victims, their families, the City of Hoboken, and the entire nation. Fifty seven Hoboken residents were lost on September 11, 2001.

The service will take place on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 6:30 pm. on the southeast corner of Hoboken’s Pier A Park – the site of a makeshift memorial on September 11, 2001. All are invited to attend.

Carmelo Garcia claim: No FBI investigation of the HHA, ‘retract!’

Carmelo Garcia the embattled, controversial Director of the Hoboken Housing Authority sent a letter to MSV late Friday afternoon claiming this website published a “false and defamatory article” about the agency. The letter accused MSV of publishing an article stating there was =&0=&The letter signed by HHA Chair Rob Davis and copied to HHA counsel Charles Daglian arrived via email.

The letter follows a call by Carmelo Garcia to the HHA commissioners at the last HHA meeting to denounce MSV but saw neither a resolution or vote.

Thank you for your response to my initial inquiry on outside agencies visiting the Hoboken Housing Authority.  Unfortunately, you have misread my story.  I would be happy to publish your statement so the truth or falsity of it can be evaluated by the MSV audience.  Since my story never mentioned the Federal Bureau of Investigation, there’s nothing to address in the incorrect assessment you allege in your letter.
