Jen Giattino: “Introducing My Team”

Official release:

Dear friends and neighbors –
I am so proud to introduce the three people I have invited to be on my At-Large Council slate. And I am thankful that each one accepted my invitation. They share my vision for Hoboken and know that this race is all about serving Hoboken and connecting our community: James Aibel, Sal Starace and Jason Ellis.
Each Jim, Sal and Jason have the passion and commitment to represent Hoboken residents and have been active in our community.
  • Jim has and his wife Beverly have called Hoboken their home for almost 40 years.  Jim is currently Chairman of the Hoboken’s Zoning Board of Adjustment, having served for approximately eight years. He serves our community well in this role by enforcing our zoning code and holding firm against unplanned, ad hoc development that is inconsistent with our Master Plan and/or risks overburdening our city’s infrastructure.  He is passionate about land use and wants to ensure we create a robust, strategic plan that makes sense for Hoboken and update our zoning code to more effectively manage our growth.
  • Sal has been a resident of Hoboken for 14 years. He and his wife Anju are currently raising their three beautiful daughters and he has been very active in their education and activities in Hoboken. Sal is a career Construction Union Representative and knows what it is like to represent the interests of large, diverse groups of people and work collaboratively and sometimes have difficult conversations in order come to the best outcomes for those he represents. Hoboken is faced with many complex issues ranging from inadequate constituent services to the threats of overdevelopment and flooding.  Sal is incredibly well positioned and focused on identifying and advocating for solutions that will work best for Hoboken.
  • Jason I have known for ten years. Jason has two young children, one who attends Wallace where his wife Carrie works. Jason’s passion is ensuring his children have the best possible education and community in which to grow up. He has been increasingly active in the decade that he has lived here from advocating for cost effective improvements to our skate park along Sinatra Drive, to leading his condominium association to working with his neighbors to fight the overdevelopment in the third ward. He is a finance professional by day and will be focused on making sure we keep taxes stable, build out and maintain our parks and open space and get the most for Hoboken out of each development that gets built in Hoboken.
I am looking forward to having all of you get to know my team over these next few months and come to regard them as highly as I do.
Thank you for your support!
– Jen
