From the desk of Hoboken Council President Ravi Bhalla:

Dear Friends,

Hoboken’s City Council Elections are tomorrow, November 3rd!

I was hoping for a few minutes of your time to tell you about who I am supporting. Please feel free to forward this message on to other members of the community. Elections are always close in Hoboken, and your vote makes a difference!
1st Ward: Michael DeFusco
I am happy to be supporting Mike DeFusco, a Commissioner on Hoboken’s Zoning Board of Adjustment. Running against a long time incumbent, DeFusco has highlighted the flaws of the current 1st Ward Councilwoman’s voting record. Mike has run a truly positive, issue-based campaign, and has put forth alternatives and his own ideas on how his fresh voice will spruce up our City with innovative new plans – the way campaigns should be! To learn more about Mike’s campaign, check out his website here:
2nd Ward: Tiffanie Fisher
Tiffanie has also been out and about meeting voters in the 2nd Ward, spreading the word about her plans for her neighborhood. I have been happy to join her, meeting so many great residents along the way. Tiffanie has already been working for her neighbors as a great voice for the Hoboken community. She has been a strong voice of opposition against the Monarch at Shipyard development. Tiffanie is also the co-founder of Hoboken Residents for a Public Waterfront, and serves on the Hoboken Zoning Board. Additionally, she serves as the President of the Hudson Tea Buildings’ condominium association. Her leadership in the community is extremely commendable, and I know she would make a fantastic representative on the City Council. For more information, please view her website and platform here:
4th Ward: Dana Wefer
Dana would provide southwest Hoboken residents with a much needed, consistent representative. Her public service experience includes work as the Chair of the Hoboken Housing Authority, where she uncovered serious mismanagement and helped clean up an organization in serious need of reform. She would use the same professionalism and efficient leadership on the Council to serve her neighborhood as a true leader. Dana has released an extensive platform outlining her plans for when she represents the 4th Ward – including holding the line on taxes, ensuring smart development which considers its impact on our infrastructure, and harnessing innovative technology to help solve our parking problem. For more about Dana’s campaign, please view her website here:
5th Ward Councilman Peter Cunningham
Councilman Cunningham has been a tremendous voice for our community, providing his expertise and financial prowess to ensure our City taxes have stayed flat or lowered. He has also been an overall great partner in moving Hoboken away from its troubled past and toward a brighter future. He listens to the residents who live in his ward, and works hard to ensure that the future of Hoboken reflects what they want. Peter has been an extremely valuable asset in the City’s planning of development projects as well. Peter represents an area of Hoboken with so much potential for smart growth, and with his leadership, not only will his neighborhood continue to blossom, but the whole City will benefit from having him on the Council. For more information, check out his Facebook page here:
6th Ward Councilwoman Jennifer Giattino
Councilwoman Giattino is another vital member of our City Council. She is responsive, friendly, intelligent, and willing to work for her residents until she gets an answer! Her victory in 2011 helped Hoboken more than you can imagine. With her on board, the City Council has been able to improve Church Square Park with Jen helping lead the charge. We’ve passed responsible budgets that kept taxes low while maintaining a surplus to ensure our bond rating remains high (saving the City even more money in the long run). Giattino’s opponent and his allies have tried to sully the name and stellar record of Councilwoman Giattino through mailers filled with distortions – but in the 6th Ward there really is only one clear choice for council – Councilwoman Jennifer Giattino. I am also happy to endorse Annette Chaparro and Assemblyman Raj Mukherji in their election to represent the 33rd District in the General Assembly!

In the Board of Education race, I have expressed my support for the Reach Higher Hoboken slate – Sheillah Dallara, Addys Velez, and Tom Kluepfel.

As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or need assistance with anything, feel free to call me at (201) 647-6090 or email me at
Please go out and vote tomorrow!
