I was informed by the Hoboken Health Department that there are now two additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Hoboken, identified as one male in his 30s and another male in his 40s. Both individuals currently are in self-isolation at home. Our Hoboken Health Department officers have been in contact with them, and both are expected to recover.
As will be the case with every positive result, the Hoboken Health Department has proactively reached out to anyone who was in contact with both individuals, and are being recommended for self-quarantine with continued monitoring. Official release:
Good morning men and women of our great Hoboken PD, our government leaders, and our residents of the City of Hoboken,
This has been a week that will be remembered for a lifetime, with a couple more weeks ahead that will add to permanent memory. I first want to thank and recognize the men and women of the Hoboken Police Department for how they have handled this Coronavirus Pandemic crisis so far, not missing a beat, and dealing with situations this week that are uncalled for. I want all of you to read what I am going to share with our residents and government leaders!
The Saturday afternoon and evening shifts of our police department were chaotic. The job that each Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Patrol Officer and dispatcher, as well as Emergency Medical Services personnel from Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Jersey City Medical Center, and McCabe Ambulance were exemplary! In a six hour period, our officers responded to 114 calls for service.

Advisory: Statement from Mayor Bhalla on additional measures regarding COVID-19 on bars on restaurants
Below is a statement from Mayor Bhalla regarding additional measures on COVID-19 in Hoboken
The City of Hoboken is doing everything possible to advance social distancing, including preventing large gatherings anywhere in the City. The health and safety of residents is my number one priority.
In furtherance of this policy, and to continue enacting measures to protect the health and safety of residents by limiting clusters of people, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has directed certain restrictions upon all restaurants and bars in Hoboken. Specifically, all bars and restaurant establishments, with and without a liquor license, are no longer permitted to serve food within the restaurant or bar. If a bar does not currently offer food, they will no longer be permitted to operate and are no longer permitted to serve alcohol, effective March 15th at 11 am. According to OEM, any bar or restaurant establishment that currently offers food service will be permitted to conduct food takeout and food delivery service only. Read More...

Advisory: Mayor Bhalla announces additional proactive measures regarding COVID-19
Below is an update from Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla regarding additional COVID-19 preparations:
Working with the Office of Emergency Management, we continue to take proactive steps to limit the spread of COVID-19 in Hoboken. My office will continue to put out as much information as possible to be transparent with the public, so everyone is informed.
We’ve received a number of questions about the first known positive case of COVID-19 announced earlier today. I’ve been informed that the individual who tested positive was a model case for what to do if you feel sick. Once he felt symptoms that he thought could be from COVID-19, he immediately reached out to his physician, was tested, and began self-isolation before even receiving the result. Once he knew he tested positive for COVID-19, he continued self-isolation. These responsible decisions allowed our Hoboken Health Department to proactively reach out to those who were in contact with him, and self-quarantine as directed by the Health Department.
