Early this am, a skirmish is taking place between mayoral rivals Jen Giattino and Ravi Bhalla.

City Council President Jen Giattino is joined by council members Peter Cunningham and Tiffanie Fisher and a phalanx of volunteers bringing their formidable grass roots power into double digits.

On the establishment power side, it’s Mayor Zimmer with Ravi Bhalla, Councilman Jim Doyle and paid staff.

Talking Ed Note: The establishment power may be outgunned at the ferry but the pro Ravi PAC continues its assault on the Hoboken airwaves bolstering what, another back room deal?

 The PAC, Stronger Foundations Inc. already seen early last month with five figure expenditures promoting Ravi Bhalla continues a massive spend. The PAC is managed by the the union Local 825 endorsed Ravi Bhalla last month and promotes NJ Transit and its proposed massive development in downtown Hoboken.

Expenditures since last Friday must be running in the tens of thousands to date. Those figures addd to the Bhalla campaign total over $400,000, most of it like the PAC coming from outside of Hoboken.

Jen Giattino’s grass roots campaign has marshaled about $150,000, the vast majority, over 85%, coming from Hoboken residents.
